You will have to toss that tape aside to see if your car has the correct "look" or "flow†body and frame lines can change the way it looks. My A sedan had the radiator taller than the cowl but your eye was not drawn to it cuz of the carbs breaking the line and when I put the radiator support rods in I mounted them lower on the radiator so they were.
With your body channeled so much, there may only be so much you can do to lower the grille shell. You may have to adjust (ie. raise) the body a bit. I have a 65 4 core mustang radiator. It's sitting ON the crossmember and my grille shell still sits higher than my cowl too. Unlike Eyeball and using his carbs to break up "the line," I had to use the gas tank to break the line (I didn't have a roof!). On my roadster, theres that imaginary line that goes from the lip on the back of my "cockpit" to the grille shell. I just made damn sure the gas tank broke that line. It's ok right now, but I will be modifiying the corners of the upper rad. tank so I can lower my shell another inch if needed. You may have to do the same. I'm trying to avoid raising the body to compensate, but you may have to fiddle with the front and rear height of your body just to make the radiator shell look right. My support rods will be used to maintain the flow I want the top of the body to have, but will be closer to the engine than the body "line" so the engine doesn't look like it's sitting so darn low.
You can try my radiator if you need to play with it. It'll turn out great. Just gotta fiddle and stare at it alot!
