Well when I look at the fullsize pic I see it's owned by a Neal Bernston of Kulm ND.

Hey, that is our car.  Thanks for noticing it.  You got some nice pictures of the engine.  Except the one showing the plastic  tie holding the coil to an extra generator bracket.  :)  I need to refine that a bit.

First time we made it to the Jamestown show.  One thing that doesn't show up well in the pictures is that it was pretty hot around there.  Did sweat a few pounds that day.

I noticed the extra gen bracket. Are you running 6 volt on it?

I changed the generator over to 12 volt.  Put 12 volt fields on the 6 volt generator.

Reason for extra bracket.  I was going to run a different intake and then put the generator over to the side but put this intake on to get it running and have not taken the time to set the other one up.  Probably wait til winter.  It runs nice with this set up so I am in no rush to change it.

Motor is a 1940 flathead, 3 3/16 X 3 3/4.  It was factory relieved.  I thought that was kinda neat to see when I pulled off the heads.  L100 cam and the rest you can see in the pictures.  Transmission is the old 3 speed ford with an aluminum flywheel ahead of it.  Front axle is from a 1940 Ford with the spring eyes reversed giving a few inch drop.  The back has the Model A rearend with hydraulic brakes stuck on.

That is the quick run down.  Nothing fancy, just simple fun.

I bought the car as a stocker a couple years back.  The motor was weak and it was not too exciting to drive.  I had bought the running gear off of another car that was street rodded about the same time.  So last year I switched the stuff over but that motor had a cracked block.  This past winter I put together this motor.  Have been working out the bugs this summer.  Have it to the point now where we can take it places and still make it back home, that is a good feeling.

So tell me about the flywheel. What brand is it? Is it all aluminum or does it have a steel face for the disk to ride? How much does it weigh? I understand that they wind up fast but do you like it for regular driving?

I do not know who made it.  It has a brass insert and I am using a regular clutch with it.  I bought it off of e-bay. I don't remember what it weighs but alot lighter than stock.

Yes, the motor revs quicker.  No problem with driving it around on the street.  I drove it in one parade with alot of starting and stopping and slipping the clutch.  It bothered me some doing that but I guess I will find out how long the insert will last.  I am sold on the flywheel but would have preferred one with a steel insert.
