Well as luck would have it I made a deal for this dash last night and should be on the way next week if the guy follows through with the deal. It's a 1940 Merc.

NICE dash!!  I'm starting to get impressed.  You are really on a mission.

More pics please, if you would--of all the goodies.

Yea I was watching a few of them....I see some insert repops but have not found a dash repop. You think with the price someone would be all over it.

Yeah as YOUR luck would have it.
Nice score. This has to be one of your most anticipated builds yet.

Well I had 5 days off to get a bunch done on the frame. Well that didn't happen. What I did get done was the rear crossmember tacked in place and after 3 days of trying to get the engine and the firewall to get along. I had to gut the xmember to get it to work with the 32 frame and 39 tranny. So Now I will have to make a new upper and lower plate to tie them together. I also had to chop the tranny mount up, removing about 1.5" to get it lower in the crossmember.

Here are a couple of cell phone pics.

O-Ball-of-the-Eye

I'm going to try get the torque tube out today.  There is a plate on the K member that it bolts to.  How are you going to mount it on the newer crossmember?

Oh, nevermind.  It looks from the picture of your frame you don't need it.  It's a different set-up.

My hope is that the bell end is the same as the later tubes and can be coupled to the tranny that way. Hey if you get it out could you lay a tape on it to see how long it is? Do you have a pic of the other end, or do you know if it is the same as the later rears so it will bolt up to the quickchange? I would hate to have you pull it if it won't work.

That frame dosn't have the wishbone on it does it?
