I was on the Hot Rod Works site and they have pictures and info on what will swap.  Very informative.

The speedo housing is Kaput, but the gear is there.

Last night I got one of the plates made that will tie the X together. I now need to make one more and then decide if I am going to put them in the channel or on top and bottom of it.

Drilling holes in thick metal sux.

After I did the first one I remembered a trick.

Start your hole with a hole saw cut about a 32nd into the plate.  Then take the plate out of the drill press and drill a bunch of 1/8" or so holes around where the blade is cutting. I drill about 15 or so around the 2.5" hole I was cutting. Now put it back in the drill press and resume cutting. It will cut  allot easier and your hole saw will live to fight another day.

So here is the lesson for today.

I have been having a hell of a time finding front shackles for the car. I am using a Chassis Engineering spring and as it turns out aftermarket perches as well. Of course I want an original looking shackle. So I ordered a set from Early Ford. They are they type with the steel sleeve that has to be pressed into the spring and perch. They were looser than hell. So I come to find out that the original Model A used 11/16 bore on the spring and perch. All of the aftermarket stuff is 3/4". We also ran into this problem on Ross' car when the new 3/4" nylon bushings were too big for the stock A spring.

And now for the answer to the problem. You use the Model A front shackles with the bushings for the rear spring and perch which are 3/4". The front and rear bushings share the same ID with different OD. They are also 2.25" long so they length need to be trimmed back for the 1.75" front spring.

Also I sent my intake and quick change off to Independence MO. to get polished by Warbozz on the HAMB. He does the vibratory polishing. He sent me a in process shot of the intake today.

I got he x member tacked in and the plates I made to connect the two sides in place. I was going to rivet them in, so I picked up some rivets at the hardware store and dinked around with them for a few hrs :roll: . Then I went back to the store and picked up these slot head bolts :) . Once my shackes bushings show up I will set it on all 4's and set the engine angle and make the motor mounts.

Tim, something I was gonna do and havent tryed yet was I noticed that farm stores like TSC and Runnings etc have round headed bolts for sickle sections on grass mowers that look like rivets but are actually bolts with serrrated shoulders and nuts. From the top they look jus like rivets.
