I talked to the short guy with the crew cut to the right of Clarence yesterday. Should of had a tape recorder, I hope I got the info right. He's got the original pic hanging on the wall in his office, said the names are written on the back. It was in a pic frame so I never asked to see the back.

He quit high school and went to work, he's about 17 on that pic. Said he even worked for Clarence for awhile.

Don't suppose he knows what happened to the car or who the actual owner of it was?

8)  Good stuff....Thanks Tom.  I know Clarence explained it to me many years ago... But you know how CRS works sometimes.

Interesting how as you get older, history gets more fun to learn.  You're even getting Tim excited about the history.

And Tim....The car is looking great.

He was surprised when I told him a friend of mine had the frame. I'll try to remember to ask if he knows who owned it. Would Clarence or Morie know ??

Also the bros on the pic last names is Jacobson or Jacobsen, not sure on the sp.

Yea I would be nice to know for sure if it is the same frame rather than speculation and hearsay.

Front brakes are together. I need to figure out where to run the brake hoses next and finish up the steering.

are you using stainless steel bolts to hold the backing plates on?

no just regular grade 5. I would like the stock looking ones like we pulled off this weekend but the early spindles take a 3/8 bolt. They will need to be painted yet.

This weekend I got the rear brakes done. I still need to come up with ebrake cables and a handle yet but they are together enough for now. I am waiting for a drum to be sent to me yet but once that is here they should be done.

I also finished up the dash for the most part. I got my vintage Sun tach. I know it is only a 3500 rpm one but hope to replace it with a higher rpm one at some point but this will at least work when running down the highway. I still need a sender and then I will need to figure out how to power the sender as I have heard that the batteries have now been discontinued for them. I need an EB style sender 12V 8 cyl if anyone has one stuck away.

I had finished the steering up by shortening the column 2" and changing the splined end out for the tapered keyed end. I was not happy with the way the wheel looked from the back side. It was originally designed for the column shift and had a bell on the back. On the F1 tube it looked funny so I dug through my junk looking for a bell of some sort and came up with a box of steering wheel adapters I bought at a swap. I found a chrome one and turned it upside down and welded to the column tube. It fits the size of the wheel almost perfectly plus will add a little flash :) to the back side of the wheel. I had another turn signal switch picked out too but then found this one that I was going to list on ebay. It is the kind that has the rubber wheel it that would self cancel but the wheel is missing which worked out great cuz it looks like it was made to fit around the bell I welded to the column.

I got the hood on the car. The sides are originals I got from Clark on the HAMB and the tops are Rootlieb. I was very impressed how well they fit together.

I was also able to get the headlight bar mounted to the frame.

I'm sure I am forgetting to do something so I figure if I leave it together for a few more weeks I will remember. I will pull the body off after 50's and finish welding the frame and start on the body work.
