i agree with you tom on the brakes, and i am thinking on a way to put some on there. i think so cal has a brake kit for spindle mounts which i am looking into. this is the first A i have ever built, and by myself, i am learning as i go. feedback is important to me so i dont have to do things over. i have just had to do that one time so far, thank god. i thought i would be different and use the 29 axle and spindle combo for 2 reasons. 1. i had them and didnt have to buy something. 2. i just didnt know better. i know now y everyone uses juice spindles. easier to find parts thats for sure. if u knew me better, it seems i do things the hard way but i get it done. think i have a complex form of ADD that if it doesnt make me think then i wont do it. didnt see any fun in doing something a ton of other people have done thats all i am going for. i probably thought for 2 months on how i was going to get the tie rod on wth out it sitting so low that it would hit, and i came up with this. i found a " right hand drive" steering arm took it from the passenger side to the driver but in front and took the stock one and moved it over. in theory i thought that it was the same distance apart so it should work. but like you said, i got some scuffing. i think if i get it wider, it would be closer to center of rear axle to front axle line. still learning and we will build and learn. advise turns to knowledge and with that thank you everybody.

I understand, and if your like a lot of us never enough money to do all the things you want. I have a roadster and a RPU that have `40 Ford style brakes on front. A `40 Chevy rag top with disk on front. Now the Chevy is a lot heaver that the other two but stops a lot better. They say front brakes are 60% of your stopping power, hate to see anybody get hurt. Keep in mind that you ARE building a car and not sitting on the sidelines, for that you get my respect!!

Just give the spindle mounts to me and your problem is solved.  I love the looks of them but have to agree, if your gonna drive it you should have front brakes. Drove my wife's coupe without front brakes and slicks. Was like trying to stop on ice, especially if it's a little wet out. I saw something on the HAMB once about someone who adapted a disc brake to a spindle mount. If I remember right it didn't take alot of work, didn't ruin the wheel (a major concern of mine, Lord knows they aren't cheap) and it actually worked. I'll see if I can find the tech article. Keep up the kick ass work on the coupe. Would love to see it somewhere this summer.

Here is  a few threads I found. They machined the back of the wheel to accept the disc, pretty straight forward. May give you some ideas if you want to do it yourself. If you need some machine wirk done I think I know a guy who would do it for cheap.  Good luck

thank flathead for the links. i think i like the ones were it looks like bead lock brakes and will probably go with that set up. just for the fact that i dont think there is alot of room for the disc to be put on the middle of the wheel. i think i am going to have it in toppers this year and definitely want to take it to back to the fifties.
