Just recieved a phone call from Peggy with Northland Educators Federal Credit Union in North Fargo. 701-293-6132

They are looking to start collector car lending but need to find an appraiser as part of their start-up process.

If anyone knows of a local appraiser, feel free to give her a call at the number above.

Let me know also as we still need to appraise MY roadster...THX!

I'm not interested but, I used to do appraisals quite a bit. Worked part time for Noble Adj. out of Fargo for 15 yrs. and Am. Fmly. through Noble for two yrs. So if anyone would like some helpful hints or at least some info on what I put together for specialty auto appraisals, give me a yell.

There are no real "credentials" in ND.  Or at least there weren't about 6-8 years ago.  The insurance companies like you to be a working appraiser and experienced in specialty cars - (a car nut).  That's about it.  Remember you will appraise specialty cars from every end of the spectrum.  The toughest ones are the ones the owner wants you to appraise for about twice or more what they're worth. I used to turn down a few like that.  Basically what you do is a bunch of research on the market value and document it in the form of a letter to the bank or insurance co.  

I've mentioned this to a couple of adjusters (who are into cars) I know in the FM area and neither was interested.  It can be a thankless job.  Especially if it's someone you know and they want the car to be X amount of dollars.  But hey......it's a job. You never know....you might like it.
