the radiator fits right behind the crossmember in the hood and cannot go forward if it is the stock radiator.  the best you could do is tilt the bottom forward.  you will have clearance issues with the hood if you move the top forward.

The 51 I pulled the radiator out of had it bumped forward. I think I recall some guys trimming some of the inner hood structure and some guys saying they didnt have to. I will find out this weekend.

Keep up this mechanical bologna and you'll end up driving your car instead of just working on it!

Well last Saturday I cleared a path out of the shop to take the 51 for a lap around the lot. In a way I did get to drive the 51, but there was no tension on the clutch and I had to start it in gear. Water pump is  bent and leaking so a new one will get sourced and I hope that solves why my pulleys ate my fan belt.

It was night time and I was by myself so no photos or vid still. So damn close, exciting yet a set back.

Edit: I also got my overrider figured out. Thanks again Tom.

stefan, i am helping ross get his running right nwo and i happened to look at yours this morning and noticed that your altenator might not be true to the other pulleys. maybe this is what is eating your belts or maybe not. i just glanced at it.

Yeah, my bracket is partially unassembled right now and just sitting in there. Once I get a new water pump I will true it all up.

You'll get there Stephan, and it won't be the last set back. You've done a great job so far so just take your time and get it right so you don't have to mess with that stuff later. . . look at how much you have accomplished!! :)

Stefan won the race between Ross and him.  Unfortunately the grand prizes, a slightly used washer/dryer combo, was given away the day of the big drive.  And unfortunately due to the recent economic downturn our society is facing, Driven Laundromat sadly had to go out of business.

Pulled the trans and the pressure plate tonight, found that I had installed the clutch disc backwards. Problem solved. Buttoned er up, gear lube in the tranny and it was as if it had never even happened. Now to seal that damn rocker cover....

Permatex's black tube of the "right stuff" is flat awesome for preventing leaks.
