what is refered to as the highway dept inspection is our office number so that would be the HP inspection.

Ross did you ask about the state assigned vin, because that is where the apparent issue is at. if you have a model a with original numbers the title is not an issue.

That's right. That bill of sale needs to state the original VIN. The question is with a state assigned VIN.

ok so i went back and was told if there isnt vin on the body to use the one issued from the the hiway dept/patrol

...and then they'll register it as a 1929 (or what ever) or a 2009?

I still haven't heard back back from the DMV....typical gov....

as year inspected as. so if the inspector puts down 29 its a 29 if he puts 09 its 2009

I may have to take my stuff down to the DMV office here and see if I can get the title. I have the inspection and NDID tag. Just never sent it in to get title. Thanks Ross.

One of the 1st things I do before I start on a project is get the title. It would suck to get a car done and not be able to title it for some stupid reason.

Also I THINK the bill of sale has to be notarized. I said I THINK. Does anybody know for sure??

I asked at motor vehicle a couple years ago to see this in print. After about 30 minutes of looking and a visit from the director, they could not let me see it in print/writing. They could not find it. They said they would let it go this time because the seller was in state, but any future bills of sale would have to be notarized. I guess they can make the rules as they want.

Like Tom says, I like to have it titled before I build it or sell it. Maybe we could get Bob Bennet to help look into this.

I bet he would. He was pretty interested in the street rod laws in the state. I'm sure he would get involved.
