Damnit.

Clarence was a great man, needless to say. This has been a tough year on car guys. I wish the family well.

:( I heard the bad news yesterday just before leaving FGO for AZ.

Clarence will always be remembered for "Clarence's Louver Shop". I'm sure there will be many stories to listen to at the prayer service. He was quite the character. May he rest in peace.

Back in 1980 I was living in Finley. My wife was pregnant with our fourth son and we decided to have him delivered at St. Lukes (MeritCare) in Fargo. When it was time to take the little fellow home, I drove down in the '48 Chev coupe that I had at the time. On the way down the driveshaft vibration was terrible. Since I would be in town for a few days before heading back to Finley with the wife and son, I drove over to Clarence's shop and talked to him about the vibration in the Chevy's closed driveline. He had a new u-joint unit in the original box sitting on the shelf. Clarence said he would put it in for me and when we headed back to Finley, the Chevy rode nice and smooth. Thanks Clarence.

The guy to the right of Clarence in that pic lives in Bismarck. I gave him a call yesterday and told him. He has that pic in his office, says he look at it every day he's at work.
