Hey,
One of yall may know about this..  I want some astro's.. either US Wheel or Allied Wheel.

I have a stock 62 chevy, unillug rims do not fit, center hole is too big. All i hear from rim manufacturers is .. "No no unilug should fit a 62 impala"

i am starting to get pissed... seriously.. do they not know what they are talking about?

I cant find astro's anywhere that are not unilug ....

Am i going to have to change out my hubs to get some rims on there.. has anyone heard of this?

Are you saying the center hole in the rim is too large? ( not hubcentric..) If you need hubcentric wheels, the wheel sales guys sell a spacer to shim down the center hole.

Sorry if this isn't what your refering to. I have no idea what I'm talking about... LOL

do you mean the center hole in the rim is too big so it isnt properly indexing the rim into the center?  Or that the hole wont fit over your 62 hub?

The center hole of the rim is about 1/8" too large.. or you can say that the hub center is too small. If you put the rim on, it has slotted stud holes.. it would just slide down and the wheel would be off center.

They make a spacer? seriously? is that safe?

yeah ive seen spacers like that.  They have a flange on the back that goes between the drum and the rim to hold it in place.  Ive never used one though.

Magnet What you need are the Unilug washers, and the long shank Lugnuts.   they are supposed to be that way.  ill see if i can get some pics.  wheel is not hub centric.  with all the lugnuts on it the correct type the wheel will not move.

This is what i am looking to get..

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=USW%2D48%2D4709&view=1&N=700+4294923107

A buddy let me borrow a set last summer to see if they fit.. thats where i figured out the center hole is too big.

I will look online for lug nut washers and lug nuts for that application.

I am gonna call US Wheel too i think.

Some of the Unilug washers take the tapered lug nut and not the long shank........so make sure you get the right combination.

I emailed summit tech support, they got back to me with some part numbers of washers and lug nuts.. I was all set to buy rims washers and nuts when my roof started leaking through sat morning..

So i blew my mad money on some new skylights and shingles and stuff..

looks like i will have to save up again :-)

I am anxious to try out the lug/washer/rim combo.. see if it works.

Now i just have to figure out what tire size would look decent.

IMO they should be "15. The '14 look to small. There seams to be less tire sizes available for "14 also. If you already have the "14 get a tire that fills up the wheal well. It's a big car = big tire.

Yeah..........get the stance the way you want first. That will have a lot to do with the size tire and wheel you get.
