4 Headlight system
« on: March 13, 2008 5:38 pm »
If I remember right is was 1958 when the big 3 starting using the 4 headlight system. 2 would have high and low beam and 2 would be high beam only. If you were to use a set of the high and low beam lamps only is there a noticeable loss when in the high beam mode?? Any body have any experience with this??

Do you have two hi beams burned out and don't want to spring for new bulbs? I'm sure you would notice a difference but It would be like driving a 57 chevy pu compared to a 58.

I don't get what you're asking.

My chevelle has 4 like that. 2 on low, all 4 on high. After awhile at night, my lights start to blink (run out of juice or something) on high beam until I turn the highs off.

i would think that there would be a difference.  since only two lights would be on instead of four.  my catalina has the 4 lamp system and is very bright when the hight beam is on (all 4 lamps).  i guess what i am saying is 4 is better than 2.

As usual I didn't give enough info. Want to do a custom treatment to the front of my 4d Chevy and use the high, low beam head light from the 4 headlight system. They are smaller in size than the 2 system style which I have now. If they are available in halogen style I bet they would be brighter than they were back in fifties.

ha ha, as fuckin' slow as I am I'll be lucky to have the bag job done by then.

I had the carb off and rebushed the throtle plates. Started it the other day and it runs like shit, so I got that to do that also before toppers.

Sorry Blain but I'm not a big fan of George, he thinks he such a ladys man, and at one time he may have been. But now I don't Viagra could get it up.

Now Sam (and George's early work) was tits!! I offen wounder if Sam had lived as long as George what the Barris name would be remember as.
