LOS ANGELES, CA, October 29, 2005 – Braun, a leading nation-wide valuation, auction, and acquisition services firm, reported a world record sale when it auctioned a 1932 Ford Model 18 Roadster for $522,625.

Braun was retained to auction the estate of famed hot rod developer Ermie Immerso, who passed away in 2004.  Among the famous vehicles auctioned on Saturday were the “Golden Starâ€?, a 1925 Ford T-track Roadster with an Indy Cammer engine (sold for $282,500), and the “Orange Twistâ€? – the record setting 1932 Ford Model 18 original steel body Roadster with Ardun heads.  Both vehicles were awarded Best of Show at the Oakland Roadster Show and also received the “America’s Most Beautiful Roadsterâ€? awards. Both cars were won at auction by the Petersen Automotive Museum of Los Angeles, CA.

Other vehicles sold for record prices including an all original 1940 Ford 2-door Coupe ($48,025) and a 1929 Ford Hi-boy Roadster ($50,850). Rare car engine and body components were sold to a record number of buyers who participated from all over the United States.

“This sale was a tribute to the ingenuity, creativity and craftsmanship that Ermie [Immerso] displayed throughout his life, said Todd Wohl, Chief Auctioneer for Braun. “I am gratified to see that Hot Rods are achieving sale prices equal to some of the most regarded collector automobiles such as Dusenbergs, Ferraris, American Muscle Cars and many other vehicles.

The '32 " orange twist" was at a Bismarck World of Wheels setting on Ardun heads. The car had a driver assigned to it. He would haul it around the country where every he was told to go. The reason it was in Bis was to get points in this division. Both cars won major ISCA awards, not just cause they were nice cars, but also they were in the right place at the right time. Mr Immerso made sure of that!!! The guy was worth millions and wore bib overhauls almost all the time. By looking at him and the way he acted you would have never known he had all that money. Of course it didn't matter he stilled died!!

maybe it was that 32 Tom, i remember it at the World of Wheels show in Bis.  i bet 20 years ago, when my mom was still engraving.  For some reason i thought it was the Track T though.   but the Ardun head jackstands definately do stick out in my mind, only cause my dad freaked out about it. =)

If i remember right, thats the show that the KIT car was there fron Knight Rider.  i got my picture taken in that car, its at my parents house somewhere....

man, saying i remember 20 years ago makes me feel old...
