So here it is in all its Suede green glory. 1957 210 with 400 sbc with a holley and an Edelbrock alum intake, 700R4 w/lockup converter, modern power brakes, 57 Olds caps, lowered 3" or so, recent full dual exhaust with Brockman mufflers. Runs nice, drives nice, stops nice. Plans? Drive it.

The Peter Beater. Super. I guess if it works it works. This vehicle was purchased as a traditional era friendly Suedes hauling club car that is also a blank canvas of sorts for those who are developing their kustom interior and paint skills. I'm excited about it but school and work have all my time for the duration.  Have to finish up some other car related projects first but I couldn't pass up a nice running driving people hauler for the price.

It obviously needs a few things as all cars do, and I'll just drive it for the rest of the season. Mechanically, I need to modify the lowering blocks to change the rearend pinion angle before I drive it any distance. It has a subtle steady driveshaft vibration on the highway and I can see the pinion is angled downward.

There is no grille. The signal lights are 50 chevrolet. A 57 buick grille is being pursued. Thank goodness there isn't a grille because then I couldn't access the friction locked belt that holds down the hood. The hood latch is present but not bolted to anything in the center, just the crossmember that bolts to the fenders so the crossmember flops around a little. I'll wait to fabricate something until I have a grille to work with as well.

The front bumper ends seem to hold the fronts of the fenders up via a bracket and this bracket is missing on the drivers side so the fender flops around a little. Need that brace. The car was hit on the drivers side at one time and the cowl in front of the windshield is pushed in. Interesting hit. Will have to weld on some pins and slide hammer it out.

The electric wiper motor reportedly works, but not from the inside of the car as the cable is frozen. The plastic clip on the wiper motor that the cable connects to is also broken off so I'll need to track that stuff down. Whatever hooks the two wipers together is absent so I have a drivers wiper only. The windshield will be replaced asap as its cracked and cloudy and I wouldn't mind except I spend a lot of driving time looking through the darn thing.

The signal lights don't self cancel due to a small child happily signaling left and right incessantly as his pops worked on the car so I need to replace the cam or something related in the column.

The radio doesn't work but that might have something to do with that radio delete plate in the dash. Same with the clock. 210's rock.

The heater fan doesn't blow (and therefore does) so I either need a switch or a fan motor. I haven't looked under the dash but there is some iffy wiring hanging around, might have something to do with it so that'll be investigated.

The drivers window is shattered. The previous owner replaced it once and must be missing a part inside the door so it flops around side to side so it makes sense that he said it broke when he shut the door.

The fuel door hinge has one broken arm so if flops a little. It does have a new fuel tank so thats cool.

The floors are good, your standard fist size holes in the floorboards by the front doors between the sill and the kick panels. Needs rockers and inner rockers but everything else is pretty good. Any tri-five chevy hulks laying around I can cut good floor sections out of?

If you have any of the parts above I'd be grateful to be able to purchase them. Whats needed is pretty much 57 chevy only stuff as everything else mechanical and GM is in good shape. Any 57 chrome or stainless? I'd love to know what you'd sell and I'll see what mine looks like. All my chrome can be improved upon. Thanks again guys.

Very nice!  What are the power brakes - a kit swap or...?  Either way, drive the wheels off of it!

pete,  i have access to alot of that stuff,  the wrecking yard here  still has alot of 57  four doors and stuff in it.   I am gonna put a Newport Engineering Electric wiper motor in my Edsel, and it has a 57 Chevy one on it right now that works.  57 Chevy factory wiper motors are spendy.
