The Green Bastard...
« on: April 04, 2010 3:27 am »
...from parts unknown.

My new 54 Bel Air 2 door I picked up today.  235 with powerglide, Offenhauser 2x1 intake, fenton split manifolds, offenhauser valve cover, FACTORY power windows and power seat.  Everything works except for the radio and the fuel gauge is sketchy.  I need to replace the fuel tank anyways so the sending unit will probably get replaced with that.

The car was repainted about 20 years ago, we got the car up on a hoist at his place so I could inspect the floors, this car is solid.  The only 2 spots of rust on the car is on the rear quarters.  He's got it lowered about 2"s in the rear and I can't remember what he said he did up front but it doesn't ride bad at all so I doubt he cut coils.

Plans are for now to tune it up and get it running a little better, I'll need to replace the fuel tank, I should do some adjusting on the brakes, he's rebuilt the master and wheel cylinders but he didn't do any more to the brakes than that, they work alright but in hard braking it pulls the left hard.

Then eventually I want to get the interior done, part of that may come this summer, then by winter time if everything works out alright, I want to get it repainted, either the same metallic green it is now or gloss black, I haven't decided.

Nice ride.  The power windows and seat have to be pretty rare for a '54.  Neat.

that looks like a helluva neat car, awesome find.

As far as the power windows, I havent seen them on a chevy before either.  I talked to a guy with a 54 olds once and he said his power windows were hydraulic, maybe its the same setup.
