I believe the 4l60 of that vintage is just like a 700 or 20r4. All the computer does is control the lock up converter. You can run the lock up off a toggle switch if you can remember to turn it off/on. I don't think it hurts anything by not hooking it up, but your mileage will be a little worse than it could be. There is also a guy on the HAMB that sells a lock up kit that works off trans pressure to control the lock up for like $60. You will need to hook up the TV cable, or you'll burn up the trans. On the motor, you just need to peel off the tbi intake and smog stuff. It won't have a fuel pump on the block, but the block should be drilled for it, and the cam should have a lobe to run it. I also seem to remember something about the CC distributer drive gear being diffrent than an hei, so I think you need to keep the one that came with the motor and move it over to the hei. Its been a few years since I messed with this stuff, so don't quote me on it, but it should get you started.
