We are looking for either a 350 or 400 small block engine.

Just wondering if anyone wants to get rid of one before i search the junk yards.

Year... not sure. Just looking for options right now so... post anything up.

And I don't need it that soon cuz I need to get my chassis first.

Dont know if I posted this up yet that I did get that 305 from my uncle for free with a 4L60E Auto w/ overdrive tranny from a 92 caprice.

Now... I'm not very knowledgeable with this stuff. But the engine is fuel injected and I want it to be carburated, and the tranny is electronically controlled... Now this is where you gurus come into helping this minor-experienced idiot.

Now I was told that I could get a new torque converter and that would make it work. True or false??? What torgue converter would I have to get?

As for the engine, What all do I need to get? I already decided on a Weiand Stealth intake. Just need to find a carb that I want (open to suggestions). What else do I need to do besides intake and carb?

Thanx for the help in advance guys. Maybe I'll have to buy a round at the bar if we ever have a meet & greet!

I would recommend going to a fuel injection forum. I don't think anybody here except tom's 2.3 is fuel injected nor is anybody running electronic overdrive.

i dont remember who makes it. but there was a stand alone 'puter for that trans in a recent carcraft that i parused at walmart

I would like to know what it takes to hook up that tranny.....I think the 700r4 is getting harder to come by and the 4l60 is getting more affordable.

I believe the 4l60 of that vintage is just like a 700 or 20r4. All the computer does is control the lock up converter. You can run the lock up off a toggle switch if you can remember to turn it off/on. I don't think it hurts anything by not hooking it up, but your mileage will be a little worse than it could be. There is also a guy on the HAMB that sells a lock up kit that works off trans pressure to control the lock up for like $60. You will need to hook up the TV cable, or you'll burn up the trans. On the motor, you just need to peel off the tbi intake and smog stuff. It won't have a fuel pump on the block, but the block should be drilled for it, and the cam should have a lobe to run it. I also seem to remember something about the CC distributer drive gear being diffrent than an hei, so I think you need to keep the one that came with the motor and move it over to the hei. Its been a few years since I messed with this stuff, so don't quote me on it, but it should get you started.

Nope, it's got a carb. The trans is overdrive, I lock up the converter and do 4th gear shift with toggle swithces.
