I remember it being a Hemi bored to 454ci with a 671 roots blower and injection. Am I wrong here?

Same year Burt Munro set the world speed record for under 1000cc class motorcycle. Interesting.

That's the guy who owened the Simonson Gas Stations?? He had it on display at the Bismarck station for a week or two when I was in high school. Went and checked it out, been so long I don't remember much.

yea -john had the gas stations and his brother pete had the lumber yards---i think  art arfons had the CYCLOPS  on the salt in 1962 also  330 MPH !!

I've got that book somewhere also. I'll do some searching tonite. The engine that was in it when it was displayed here may not have been the same that ran 200mph because it was just an empty dummy block.

Some of us wanted to get it running and take to Toppers and Prime Steel in the mid 90's, but John refused to let us do it.  I remember talking to him on the phone, but that's my only dealing with him.

Anyone who went to SSS/SCS in the 60's to early 90's always asks about it.

in about the 70's simonson had a cobra or something with a ground glass
paint job on it me and another auto bod tec stuck our fingers in his do not touch paint and we got a interview and actually was quite pleasant to us it was on display at the fargo station on main ave

yeh i remember the ground glass paint job--he also had a 440 mopar powered jensen interceptor--a 427 chev powered firebird--a 351 power pantera- and i don't know how many other modified cars--he loved
speed!!!

i walked past that everyday on my way to Machine Lab  and always wondered to myself, how would i get the blown hemi out of it and into my dorm room without anyone noticing  hahahahah
