They look great. Much better than mine - I am pretty sure I gave up on striping. Keep it up and keep us posted

I really like it.  you have to do the same thing that I have to do- practice on line work , maintaining uniform thicknesses and the such.  is it totally freehand or do you lay down tape or a line for the first few lines? I guess it's a good sign that I can't tell!  I better practice up!

I had an old friend ,,Artist, cartoonist, stripper from back in the day when it was the rage. His signature style was very thin lines. He would comment on how most strippers had thick lines.

Nice work BTW.

Harsh Criticism? Well I dont know about that, but heres what I think. Typically I prefer thin lines and fewer of them on a design. Less is more theory. Your style seems to keep that in mind well. I'm not too crazy about the last one, just my personal opinion, but it doesnt seem that there is really any 'flow' to the design like the previous two, having the points of the lines pointing in all directions. But hey, its art, right. There are no rules! Some guys (who probably know a lot more than me!) may love the design. Keep it up! Lookin good.

I know some guys always insist that the darker colors or colors that blend in with the background should be in the background, with the brighter colors on top.  But too me this is just a preference thing, I don't know that it's set in stone anywhere.  I think they look good.

i always like to put the lighter colors on bottom. a) then they don't bleed as much when you're doing a quick job, and b) the darker color on top subdues the lighter color...especially when using white, ivory, etc....

I think I'll stick to doing it the way the old dogs did it.  ;-)  But then again, I haven't even touched my paint box in like 2 years now.

The theory behind it, and I forget if it was Roth, Kafka, or Wizard that I first read about explaining it, was that the eye will see the lightest colors first and follow those lines, now if there is a darker color over the lighter color, it will appear broken and distracting.  Therefore if the lighter colors are on top, it will appear smooth and flowing, and the darker color as a smooth, undistracting, background and a piece of art all in itself.

So yeah, it's just a preference thing and it would certainly be easier in a rush to do the lighter colors on bottom

For a lot on discussion there are a couple of really good message boards out there where a lot of the old pros give there $0.02 on a lot of different topics...

SketchKult Pinstriper's Forum
Pinstriper.com Message Board

I know there are a couple of others as well, but SketchKult is a really good board and a lot of info and opinions can be had from there.

Plus any of Roth's old books on the subject are really good with info too.  I think I've got almost all of them now, and almost all have some good info in them.

those are good sites to check out, thanks for the couple pennies.  i dont think ive ever really thought about which to put on bottom.  i just usually do whichever sounds better at the time, so thats good advice.
