getting ready to start a new ride

Me and the wife hae a ball in our bucket but its time to move on, probably wont sell the bucket but we need something to haul three of us, a roof, radio  and heat would be a bonus.
 Heres what I have in mind. Im thinking 48/52 ford pickup, flathead, sitting on custom rails, chopped, channeled and sectioned, would like the whole thing to be less than armpit height. Would like it sitting on a suicide front end. Would probably toss all the front end sheetmetal minus whatever I use to fab a radiator surround/headlight setup. Ive got decent metalworking skills and a place to work but have never chopped anything. Is there any good books worth buying on the subject or decent websites? Going for the old school feel and look, traditional I think you guys call it..
 We were at the bad boys show in brainerd a couple weeks ago, they had the old gull drive in fired up for friday and saturday night. There was a flat black 48 ford pickup sitting about 4 inches off the ground and the wife was liking it alot. its time for another ride.. am i whacked or what? IF I think i need fenders they will be minimal., other than the occasional rock in the elbow in the T bucket I see no need. Im getting exited tho, I got this pic in my noggin and it aint gonna go away.. Just need a push to go completely over the edge.

you could still use front fenders but jsut section them and pancake the hood...I don't think I've seen that on a pickup and it would definetely be rad...sounds like a fun ride though!

I've got a '48 ford 1 ton, with a running 8ba and a title. The cab doors and hood are really nice as far as rust goes. You could be well on your way towards what you're looking for, for just $950.

Will hopefully get the engine back in the bucket this month then I gotta finish sheeting the ceiling in the shop so I can keep a little heat in it this winter.
My daughter has outgrown her electric jeep and the neighborhood pedal car so I think its time for her to advance a bit. Found a pile of junk (nothing is junk) in a buds backyard that will make a nice wheelbarrow hot rod, shes first. Next door neighbor picked up a 60 impala 2 door hardtop, that needs some attention  also, about a years worth. Im thinking he bought it to pull my teardrop camper! lol Currently working on a gas tank for a buds 27 roadster project, should be a crazy ride, all he has is big block chevy stuff in his junkpile.  It will be spring when I can start my own stuff. Thanks for the offer on the one ton, gonna give the bride a month or so to make up her mind fer sure what she wants so were both on the same page. Gotta keep the family involved ya know..Paul

i will start by saying that i think later truck need fenders but i found this pick on the hamb and would say that hood and grill kinda pull it off
