I'm looking at a couple Chevy Luv's online that are from around my area.  I have limited experience driving a Luv, and as I recall, it wasn't too bad of a little pickup, but someone who's driven one more could answer me these questions.

First, '76 and '78, both have 1.8 and a manual.

How's reliability on these?  What kind of MPG could I expect assuming a well tuned engine?

Boy oh boy.  I don't think any of us here have driven one.  I know Curt Leslie from the Toppers had one that he drove the wheels off of.  He loved that little thing and said that he got great mileage with it.  I don't think Curt has stepped over on our board yet, so you'd probably have to check on the Toppers board.

why don't you just step up to a new one? You'll have to go to the middle east to get one, but they're 4WD, take loads of punishment, and you can even get them with the steering wheel on the correct side. If you want to save money, find one that has been in an RPG attack. The guages will be in metric though.

Hmmm.  Can someone in the military buy one of those over there and get it shipped over via the us government like they do if you're stationed overseas?

No, that deal doesn't work when youre in a combat zone, only places like Germany, when they move you back to the states.
 I tried getting a new lumina shipped over from Kuwait, but no dice. GM makes a LS1 powered front-engined rear-wheel drive Lumina. They have independent rear suspension and everything. Sweet cars. Hell we tried getting all sorts of stuff sent back.

Looks like a Holden Monaro, they called them GTO's here and you could only get them in 2 door.
