NDSRA State Run
« on: January 09, 2007 6:30 pm »
So the time has come to make a decision on the future of the NDSRA run in Fargo. As most of you know the last two years have shown a down turn in attendance. The core group that has been responsible for planning the run is burned out on doing it mainly due to the lack of interest. We have tried to bring some new people into the mix to help and get new ideas but still the results were less than expected. Then last year we dropped the drags and went back to a rod run format with awards. We had received criticisms from people that wanted a "car show" and not racing but they didn't show up for that either. But when “we did the drags last year we had great attendance and a ton of spectators.

Some say it is the area. There is a general lack of interest for locals when it comes to taking their classic/collector cars out of the garage. Weekly cruise nights failed although the monthly one downtown is doing very well.

I have been in contact with other clubs in the area and there is little or no interest from them in the run. I also placed contact info in the Newsletter to see if anyone had thoughts either for or against the run but have not received one singe response.

So I put it to you the members and lurkers of this board. I have pretty much made up my mind (Taps playing softly) but would like to hear your thoughts on it.

If we cant even get the other local Clubs involved, i think its a waste.

i vote to Kill it.  all it woulda took is some local support from people other than us.

There is a lot of support from individuals but there is not a large effort from any club and that is what would make a difference.

What a shame to loose the run, but if there is no interest there is no interest.  I suppose each club wants to focus on their own events instead of support the NDSRA.  Kinda funny when ndsra is something like 700+ members and they cant even get 50 people to attend.  O well  off to the scrap yard with this one.

All of the other towns other than GF have runs already that are run by the local clubs. They are pick sites but this was the state run. I would rather it just went away if it was not going to be here.
