Remodel the '28
« on: December 11, 2006 4:49 pm »
Had the '28 on the road since '89, so I though it's time for an update.

Going to add splash aprons, cut the hood to aline it better and of course a little differens style wheel.

How about the tried and true drivetrain? I'd be interested if you are going to switch to something different.

The remodel will be cosmetic only. An attempt to make it look a little more traditional. As long as it has radials on it will never quite make it, even with a hood. As for the running gear, why change something that runs down the road all day long at speed limit "plus" , and give you  decent mileage.

I don't know if you remember Jake, this motor has been tweaked. I remember you saying your's ran out at about 80 this one will still pulls up to  100.

So are you going to put some bias ply tires on the new wheels?

Well I'm not makin as much progress as Eyeball, but I am getting some things done.

Got the wheels together, now to the untrained eye they look like ordinary wheels. But you know me, they have been modified. The front's were 15 x 5 1/2, are now 15 x 5.  The rear centers were IH 15 split rims and the out side rims were 16" 3/4 ton Ford truck. Here is a pic of what helps me do this. In this pic I'm making the wheels I used on the front of my 4d Chevy.

Got all the bondo work done, and everything is in DP40.

You'll notice my paint booth looks just like my shop. :(

Thanks Travis. I wasn't looking for at-a-boys. My point is if you don't drive with 20" bling blings they don't get. Most don't under stand the traditional look.

The ONLY thing that matters is being parked at the HOP UP tent at the bend in the road on Monday night. :)

Lets see some pics already!

In my foolish inexperience i've tried explaining it to people. You can imagine how that works. Just yesterday, a guy was looking at my car and asked where the hood was. When I told him I wasn't running one, he asked if the car will work without a hood. Work meaning will the engine run. mmmhmmmm.
