A few of us took off to the world finals in bonneville this year and it was great the temps were cool and the salt was great. well here are some pics.

Tim and I left fargo around 1 pm on Tuesday and went to Bismarck to pick up Tom and continued on to Bonneville and got there around 8 am on wednesday morning. It was not our intent to drive staight thru, but hotels were kinda high priced in Dillon, MT and by the time we got to the next town we decided to just keep on going. When we got to Wendover the sun was coming up and we all got recharged and went into town to the red garter for the 2.99 breakfast. then it was off to the salt. The salt was impressive this year and the temps were cool, we had to wear coats most of the time. The world finals do not have the spectator crowds of speedweek, which was great. we were able to get right up close at the starting line. I think this will be on my calender again next year.

the fastest car at the world finals was the spirit of rett. The fastest run was 402 mph.

On our way back we stopped in a town near Billings, MT to see Rany Mead. He is the former owner of Ravon fiberglass and is building a bellyl tank that is a tribute to the 16 tank driven by both Bill Burke and Wally Parks. I have some more pics I will try to get up tonight but here is a vid of him firing it up for us. He plans on having it at Bonneville in August. It is not able to run for time as it does not have the safety equipment that is required now days.

I remember seeing his build on the HAMB. Looks like a real nice setup he has.
