Dec. Tech- Hub Cap Adapters
« on: December 18, 2006 7:29 pm »
Got some '41 Ford caps for my IH wheels that I will be installing on my A roadster. Now '40 to '48 caps fit on the IH wheels no problem, but these didn't. Now WTF?? Got to find out they were for Vintique brand wheels which have a smaller hole. So I made some adapters using 1/4" carriage bolts. I drilled and tapped 4ea  1/4 X 20 holes in each wheel. Adjusted the bolt to hold the cap tight and then add a nut on the back side to lock the bolt in place. Thinking about adding some lock tight to the threads after I have painted them and install them for the last time. If I should every get different caps I can remove the bolts and the wheels will be like they were before.
