Chop job
« on: April 06, 2006 10:18 pm »
Had a busy week. Started last Friday doing the last few things that needed to be done before I started to chop my A coupe.  Got it all ready and the lay out done befor I called it a day on Friday. Was pretty pumped up about it and was in the shop by 6:30 Sat. morning. I started cutting right away and cut all but a few small areas. About 9:30 my good neighbor Wayne shows up,so ewe cut the few remaining pieces and lift the top off. Wayne heads back home and I cut the 3 inches out of the body. About 11:30 Wayne comes back and we set the top back on. Then I find out that some of my cuts could have been a little more even. Getting nice even cuts through the door posts semms to have been the big problem. It was nothing that I couldn't fix,but I did cause myself some extra work. This is the first chop for me and like most firsts,if I had it to do again I would do things a little different.  Any ways the rest of Sat was spent fitting and tacking. One of my club members came over and helped on Sunday and we got the rest of it tacked together and some of it welded. I've been working at getting it finished all week. Lots of welding and grinding! Im alittle tired of having grit from grinding all over me all the time.  The skin on my forehead is peeling from a little too much exposure to a welding arc while tacking. So now you all want to see pics, right? Well, you'll all have to get on Serious about the pics cuz he is the one who has to post the because I'm a ludite(look it up). I'm really trying to fast track this project. I'll try to keep you posted on the progress. I just finished the last of the welding and grinding on the body today. All that is left is to cut the garnish mouldings and the windshield frame. You all get on Aarons' ass about the pics.
