Luther Selland Motors won a Richard Petty Driving Experience for exceeding a sales goal for GM accessory sales. The assistant parts manager was scheduled to go but had something come up at the last minute so I took the trip. I let Kathy drive the car and I went on a ride along. Kathy went through about an hour of driver training and the got behind the wheel of the car. She is in the #20 car. It is a lead follow program where there is an instructor in the lead car and she is in the chase car all by herself. They were instructed to follow at 2 to 5 car lengths behind the lead car and not to let the gap get too big. Kathy did a great job and was among the fastest in the class.
The ride along was also great. The guy that I rode with was ripping up the track and everyone wanted to ride in his car. It was the #8 car. When I got in I told him that he was the driver of choice for the day just to give him a reason to prove why.

On the third lap we were coming into turn 3 hugging the wall, the tach was sitting at about 6300 rpm. (we were flyn') he nudged me with his elbow and gave me the thumbs up and we went into the turn hard. It was a great ride! They estimate the speed at about 160 mph.
