General Discussion / Gene Winfield Workshop???
« on: December 15, 2009 9:52 PM »
So I started working on this 6 months ago and it has finally come to a working date. I'm sure many of you have read about Gene's workshops on the HAMB.

May 22-23, 2010 at NDSCS in Wahpeton.

It could be:

(1) a two day general sheet metal work shop.

or

(2) a two day chop a top with a little general sheet metal working thrown in as allowed.

Cost is $175 per day.   $350 for the two days.

Cheap housing (I think it's $15 a night or less) on campus for those who might need it.

Hot or cold lunches for about $6.

Before I commit to this.....do you think there would be enough interest and could it go?  Date is a little later than I had hoped, but still doesn't interfere with any runs, I think.

Thanks and let me know what you think...good/bad.

Jake

General Discussion / Posting Pics??
« on: December 02, 2009 11:17 PM »
For some reason I'm not able to post pics.  I've tried on two puters now to no avail. It browses OK and then when I try to add the pic it goes to a page where it says web page is not available. When I go back to origianal page everything is gone including text.

It usually works great and this time I'm stumped.??????

Wanted / Plymouth bumpers for the '35.
« on: October 12, 2009 7:23 PM »
Maybe a different direction with the '35 bumpers.  I'm looking for 2 1949 Plymouth bumpers.  The larger ones with the ripples.

Any one know of someone who might have some?

Like the one pictured below.

Thanks....Jake

General Discussion / ND Year of registration change?
« on: August 19, 2009 1:43 PM »
Boardman was by yesterday asking questions on ID numbers on Fords..."A"s and later.  He said you cannot get the ND ID numbers anymore and register a car as the year it is unless you have the title. In other words if you got a 1929 done today and went down to get a ND ID # and title it will be registered as a 2009!

Supposedly this just happened this year.

Tom, have you done any snooping?  It might be time again for NDSRA to get real proactive!

This really sucks!

General Discussion / Bought a car at BTT50s, need info.
« on: June 22, 2009 4:11 PM »
A kiddie car for the grand kids.  Got it at the swap meet yesterday.

It's steel, has a starter motor for power, brakes, forward and reverse, electric horn, and all there except windshield which was plexi. The only markings on it are the decal on the streering drop.  It says "Star lite".

I'm going to clean it up a bit, put a battery in it and see if it works.

Pretty neat, but haven't been able to find any info on it. Any one ever seen one or know any thing about it?

For Sale / Books and Manuals
« on: May 11, 2009 9:12 PM »
So since I'm on light duty.....I'm cleaning out the cupboards....Some books and manuals that I'll offer up before throwing them on Ebay.

Make offer on each book plus mailing or you can pick up in Wahp. I grouped them all into three pics to save space. I'll give it till next Monday at this time before putting on ebay.

PM me if you're interested.

Pic 1 - 2 same - 63 Galaxie and 62-63 Monterey Shop Manual Supplement.
Ford at Fifty - 1953 hard cover book on Ford
Fix your Ford - hard cover - covers everything on '53 to '63 Ford

All four of those are in excellent condition, but do have some smoke damage around the edges (were in my garage four years ago)

Pic 2 - All in excellent condition - like new - all soft bound.

Pic 3 - all in excellent condition - like new - all hard bound.

Hopefully you can make all the titles in pics.

Thanks, Jake

General Discussion / "The Rock 57 Chev Tail"

Found this on craigs list.  A little spendy at $1250.  Brings back some great memories of the bar.  It was "the place" in Fargo in the late 70's, early 80's. Probably too long ago for some of you.

General Discussion / Spring Break
« on: March 24, 2009 8:13 PM »
Being sick of this winter, my wife and I got in the car and headed south till it got warm last week.  Ended up as far as Tulsa,OK. (83 degrees) Just bummed around and stopped when there was something to look at.  Put a few miles on Route 66 - some neat sites, but also kind of depressing to see how the small towns have died along the way.

Any way we spent a couple hours at Darryl Starbirds Rod & Custom Museum outside of Bernice, OK.  I've never been real excited about his later work, but always loved the Big T and Predicta.  Spent quite a while talking to his wife and then went out to the shop and BS'd with Darryl and his grandson who were working on a PU for the grandson.  The "coffin" was sitting in the shop just back from Detroit.

Heck of a nice guy and still building cars in his 70's.

The museum had some nice cars from others including Bill Hines "Bat".

Had a great week, but real tired of battling water since returning. Hope everyone is staying ahead of the water.

Here's some pics:

General Discussion / I Finally got a good deal on Ebay!
« on: February 27, 2009 8:49 PM »
I've been watching for skirts for the '35.  Could make some, but if I found a good deal...grab it.

They've been going for $250-350 on Ebay.  The other night I check before going to bed...."buy it now" - $80 plus $40 shpg & hndlg.
I'm the third person to check them....I buy it now.

Arrived today....basically new, been on a car, but no dirt on the inside, nice shape, just like the add.  And they're steel!
