Here is what I got delivered this weekend from Aaron., but without the shifter. The shifter I picked up at the racer swapmeet.
-
Aaron brought along the shifter that came with the transmission before it was taken to the junk yard. here is the one he brought on top and the swapmeet one on the bottom. once all the linkage was taken off they were identical with the same mounting holes so I was able to put it on the vintage homemade shifter bracket.
-
I know the block is junk, can you post a pic of that?? Must be part of the old hot rod mount sticking out the side between the bell housing and trans.
Hey Aaron what was the story on that motor and trans?? Something your dad had picked up long time ago??
-
next I had to make brackets to go on the transmission for the shifter the one on the left is the one i made the one on the right is what originally was on the transmission.
-
this is a pic with the shifter linkage in place and everything seems to move as it should. O and i have to do some more checking but this appears to be the 50 olds transmission, which is the most desireable.
-
The motor has been hot rodded, it is not a 56 block, but does have the #10 heads which are the most desireable only available in 56. I have them removed from the engine and hopefully they are not cracked and can be used...I think it is a 55 block, suprisingly the block cylinder walls look pretty good.
-
Sorry I didn't know it was going to be sort of a tech thread. :)
-
Damn............. the brackets turned out great!
-
I forgot to add................... THAT'S HOT RODDING!
-
The motor was in my dads model A Tom, when he got it from Dennis Delzer years ago..
Todd, it DID have the good heads on it????
-
yep, they are the good ones. I will take them into wayne later to have em checked.
-
sweet it had the good tranny and the good heads on it. feelin better about this all the time.
-
Ok I had it confirmed on the HAMB that this is the 50 trans, The Holy Grail of early transmissions, basically the cad/laselle gearbox with the special short tailshaft. available 1950 only. Kick ass.
