Title: Truax 1927 T Coupe chop

Vince Truax of Truax auto sales in Deer Creek, MN recently acquired this T coupe and heard from some of the locals in Fergus that I could chop it.  He wasn't sure how much of a haircut he wanted, but I suggested 7 or 8 inches.  We went 7", with 5" taken out of the back window and an inch taken from above and below the window.  I just started today, and I'll be finishing it early next week.  Enjoy!

What's the story..........was this a done car??

Also if I remember right I think most T chops, they take some sheet metal from the top of where the windsheild sets.

It's a nearly done car. Vince may be able to fill in a bit- I directed him to the site so he could see progress pictures.  It runs and drives, but Vince wanted a little attitude adjustment so that's where I came in.  I plan on using 1x2" rectangular tubing at the top header panel to increase visibility.  I will be doing that after I get the rest of it tacked in.  I have to do some housecleaning today but I'll be able to work on it tonight for a while.  Tomorrow I will be working on it for the full day.

Here's an update:  The header panel is welded in.  The doors and top are welded up and ready to go.  The hinges have yet to be installed.  I'm taking out the middle hinges and only using the top and bottom pairs.  I spent a lot of time on it last weekend and I'll have to finish up the hinges next weekend.

Along with chopping the top, I installed door bottoms.  The skins (inner and outer) were provided and were purchased from Mac's.  I liked them and they were easy to install.

Vince ended up getting two pairs of Speedway Econo-hinges for T's and A's.  He had seen some Ts that only used two hinges on each door, and we decided to go that route and take out the middle hinge.

Vince will be finishing up the bodywork and spraying it.  He used to do a little bodywork and painting "back in the day" and he's a perfectionist, so I'm sure it'll be done right when he's done with it. I'll be getting more pics of the doors hanging on the car later.  I got it done last monday and I may do the upholstery for the T as well.

Good thing it wasn't 10.5"....then again, this car will probably be long down the road before mine every sees the light of day again.
