Title: Pontiac Wheels
Post by: flatheaded on July 08, 2010 4:52 pm
Does anyone know if Pontiac made a 16" wheel in the late 40's - early 50's?  If so what was the bolt pattern?  I like the looks of the '50-'52 Pontiac hubcaps but have only seen them in the 15" size and have 16" wheels on my shoebox.  I was gonna try to make a 15" hubcap fit on a 16" Ford wheel by securing it to the center nubs but am afraid it might look funny.  Anyone else ever try this?

I have never done it, but was thinkin' if I guy could take 16' trim rings and attach the 15' cap to it.

BTW how did your event go??

Well, took most of the afternoon but I did find an article of someone who put '47 Caddy Sumbreros on a stock 15" Ford rim. That's what he did, took a beauty ring and cut it into 4 equal pieces and then pinched those pieces into the underside lip of the hubcap. I'm gonna try it and see what it looks like.  I'll post some pics if it works if anyone wants to see.
As far as our show, we feel it went really good.  Had 52 registered vehicles ranging from 1928 to 1999. Had cars from Jamestown, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Carrington, Aberdeen, and the close surrounding towns.  Served about 200 people with our dinner and sold lots of t-shirts.  Raised some nice money for the city and had a pretty good time.  I think we would have had more if the weather wouldn't have been shitty.  We are already planning more for next year.
