...from parts unknown.
My new 54 Bel Air 2 door I picked up today. 235 with powerglide, Offenhauser 2x1 intake, fenton split manifolds, offenhauser valve cover, FACTORY power windows and power seat. Everything works except for the radio and the fuel gauge is sketchy. I need to replace the fuel tank anyways so the sending unit will probably get replaced with that.
The car was repainted about 20 years ago, we got the car up on a hoist at his place so I could inspect the floors, this car is solid. The only 2 spots of rust on the car is on the rear quarters. He's got it lowered about 2"s in the rear and I can't remember what he said he did up front but it doesn't ride bad at all so I doubt he cut coils.
Plans are for now to tune it up and get it running a little better, I'll need to replace the fuel tank, I should do some adjusting on the brakes, he's rebuilt the master and wheel cylinders but he didn't do any more to the brakes than that, they work alright but in hard braking it pulls the left hard.
Then eventually I want to get the interior done, part of that may come this summer, then by winter time if everything works out alright, I want to get it repainted, either the same metallic green it is now or gloss black, I haven't decided.

Wow, I have never seen a chevy older than 55 with power winders, I'm not saying they are rare or anything but I've never any before...that is too cool...nice machine Tyrel
-
it rides nice
-
Nice ride. The power windows and seat have to be pretty rare for a '54. Neat.
-
that looks like a helluva neat car, awesome find.
As far as the power windows, I havent seen them on a chevy before either. I talked to a guy with a 54 olds once and he said his power windows were hydraulic, maybe its the same setup.
-
Wow!!! Excellent find Antibling!

Good for your Tyrel!!! Some WW and caps and you can cruse with the best of em!!!
Is it the stock powerglide??
-
Stock powerglide he had rebuilt.
Some WWW and spider caps are in order. He's got the green wheels for the front to match the rear, he just had the new 14" tires for the front so he used them. I don't know when I'll be able to order tires though but I got some used 15" tires that I can use up front to get the green wheels back on there and get some spider caps.

Yeah that will help a bunch!! Even if you can find some used narrow whites with the spiders, I think that would help.
-
Well got some different air cleaners on there. Now I want to find a matching pair but they will do for now.
What they are is, the Chevy trucks, 54 and earlier style, these are "standard" air cleaners. They originally had a copper mesh element in them. The reason they are so rare is because most of the time, the first thing that happened was they were chucked for an oil bath cleaner. Well I never knew they made two different styles till I got them. I'd actually like another base off the rear one, and the lid off the front one. The rear one has a base that tapers up and sits up higher.
-
Hopefully gonna find time to go down and get the green wheels for the front and get my thin whites mounted that I picked up and order some spider caps.
I cleaned up the interior some, got rid of the blankets and house carpet he had in there, got a piece of auto/boat carpet for the front, the rear seat is pretty good condition but the front seat is all ripped, I got some mexican blankets I need to cut up and actually make some covers, I want to get the seats re covered but don't want the down time right now, so winter project.
Also Joel talked me into making a cover for the package tray since the original one was gone. Fake rabbit(?) fur.
-
Chinchilla Fur.
-
Chinchilla Fur.
I'll have to work on making yours this week, you didn't throw my template away did ya?
-
I didn't..... I want to put tuck'n'roll on mine though.
-
You're silly, you won't be able to see the tuck 'n' roll beneath the chinchilla fur.
-
Bobby gets a fur package tray cover too... Dallas or Blaine? Mr. Eyeball?
-
is this thing 50's bound?
-
Yes sir, I gotta work Thursday night so should be there sometime Friday.
