Just got off the phone with Tim Gangl at Hot Rod Hardware and it is official. Gene Winfield will be doing a two day workshop at Tim shop Feb 6&7 2010. We will be learning many metal shaping techniques as well as what tools to use to do it.
Price will be $350.00 for two days lunch is included.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND.
There will be a limited number of seats for the class. Tim has already talked to some of the MPLS and WI clubs about it. He would like all of us to have a chance to get in before he releases the info to MSRA about it.

Moved topic to events....

I would love to go if i have the money n time
-
I don't think you have much time to decide bud. It seems like a move it or lose it sort of deal.
To whom do I send the check?
-
Just got this from Tim if anyone is interested.
For those of you coming in from out of town; We are considering renting a huge guest house reasonably close to our shop for Gene and whoever comes with him. This guest house has 18 beds, some in separate rooms some in a big open area, there is 3 Bathrooms. We are wondering if anyone else would be interested in staying there with Gene. We would have it Friday and Saturday evening. No problem staying up late bench racing etc. We are waiting to hear back on a group rate. Let me know.
For more info go to www.miltonhouseretreat.com
Thanks – Tim.

$125 per person for 2 nights at that house.
Are there any other motels in that town or near? Kasson is a half hour away.
-
There is plenty of places to stay in Rochester. There is also a place in Zambrota which is about the same distance away.
-
Holy hell, I don't know how I missed this.
My parents place is in Rochester, and I can probably house atleast a couple of people.
Who's in for sure?
-
So Far:
Joel
Pete
Rick Gronner
Aaron
Me
-
That must be the 5 he mentioned.
Screw it, I'm in - let Charon paddle
me across the river Styx in my very own debt barge.
This is gonna be fun.
-
Ill put you on the list. Yes it will be great!
-
Both my Dad and I are going... I'm so stoked.
Too bad you can't have a punch card on these things... we'd have a couple club members close to the free one!

Well I have some bad news…….got word today from Tim that Gene WILL charge and additional 3k for chopping a car in his class. Unfortunately with the economy this year I am not finically able to afford this and I am not certain that it would be worth the money to me to have him do it anyway. I attended the class in Milwaukee where we chopped a 40 Merc and it was a great class I learned a ton of stuff but the chop was no were near complete and that is why I don’t think it would be worth it to me to pay the money. Tim will be having Gene his metal fab class instead on the same dates as above just no Mercury to chop.
I will let you know if there is a change…..sorry.
-
Well that blows!! Is this something that has changed since the Milwaukee work shop?? Or did he charge that guy too and you just didn't know?
-
I don't know but if Casy had to pay that for the incomplete job on his car I fell bad for him.
-
I know if I paid 3k for a chop I'd want all of the metalwork DONE. I don't blame you Eyeball.
It might make sense for Dad and I to go to the Wahpeton one...
-
3K is what Gene had told me on the phone a while back. I thought that maybe with some connections or because you and Tim G. had been to a couple classes it was thrown in or something. Too bad you had to find out now after getting so pumped up. You can handle the chop....can't be any worse than turning a four door into a two door! Lots of thought and a couple beers and......
-
Yea, I'm not worried about doing the chop just dissapointed after having my hopes up for the last 7 months. Need to get a few more tools.... :)
-
I guess does that mean a collective, "Screw it, lets do the Whapeton one instead" or what? Who all is still going?
-
I'm going to give my father the choice between the one in Rochester sooner, or Whapeton later. I'm guessing he'll choose Whapeton later so we don't have to pay for as much gas or hotels/ weather should be fine. (probably 95% chance he'll pick Whapeton.)

I'm still up for the one in Whap if it matters. Sorry to hear about the bad news Tim.
