So a lot of you know about the '58 Buick I bought from Braunburger after Prime Steel. Here are some pics:
-
Do you have it home yet? looks nice.
-
Sweet, man! That sure is a neat looking rear bumper. It would a take a month of labor just to take all the chrome and stainless off that sled! Good find.
-
Ok Bolo.........what's the plans!!
-
90% sure this things getting cut up. I kinda hate to do it, but I've done some looking and they are just NOT bringing any kind of money as a complete car. It does have some real nice parts, tho.
No kidding about the month of labor. There's 23 pieces of trim on EACH quarter panel.

Yup--I once heard it said, "The 1958 Buick has more chrome than a Libian General at a military parade."
They are enclosed drive also. The grilles were used for customs, as well as a lot of trim. I think they had vacuum power windows, too.
Nice score.

please don't part it out. Brick through the window man, brick through the window...
-
So, I had an intervention at Eyeballs on Saturday. There were many threats to my well being if I cut this thing up. So I guess its getting built sometime for a nice cruiser. Figures. I got nothing else to do.
-
Id still cut it up. if it was a 2door hardtop, thats one thing... but its a 4door.
-
That's one big mother to bring back to life. (Means $). Save that kind of work and money for the car of your dreams or something close. It'll come.
I'd part it out and invest it in the Ranch Wagon. :)
-
now are the ones who are threating you not to part it willing to step up and buy it and not part it out also?
i kinda doubt it
-
lets see now--2 s/wagons, stude, 40 chev, 72 chev 3/4 , and a BIG ambulance all equal lots of time and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$----part it and use the money!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah........what dad said!!
-
Im with Sundance!.........Ill take the taillights :)
-
I don't think I would part it out. If you can't afford to build it or lack the intrest to build it i would sell it as a unit.
-
When are you going to need an Ambulance?
-
ok i know i have said before to cut it up, but i just was looking at an issue of R&C and in the back was a little pic of a 58 buick 4door custom and it was totally sweet. i have officially changed my mind. someone needs to build this car. the one in the mag was very clean, shaved handles custom grille, really low, nice light green color with a white top. it was cool! good score!!!

please allow me to present exhibit A:

I rest my case.

It's a good looking car......but unless it was all you had or the car you were conceived in (Bruce?) or some such thing, the time and bucks to make what you have look like that would be much better spent on some of the rigs you already have....my .02! :)

Agreed. Your plate is full...sell it...
-
sell it, i don't care, but don't cut it up. SOMEONE needs to build it!
-
cut the roof off of it and fill it with dirt and plant flowers in it.
-
I'd have to agree to you selling the Buford as you have cooler rigs to build....I also hate to see anything old cut up nowadays. For someone just getting in to the old car gig this could be an excellent foot wetter. On the other hand I once cut the top off a 59 chevy fourdoor, and preceeded to shave all the chrome and door handles and then painted it 59 Volkswagen lavender(a shade of pink) and it was all done in spite of the original owner refusing to sell the car to me and I later got it from another buddy. It ended up being one of the most fun and talked about cars in this area for along time till I finally sold it a coupla years ago...I sorta miss it now.....

Are you interested in any trades? It sounds like you have enough project vehicles, or do you?
Do you need any motors/trannys or parts?
I have GM motors from the 60's (not chevy). I also have some Mopar motors. Thanks!
