Title: 25 Franklin RAT ROD

Hello I am about to start my first Rat Rod. I have 2 drivable Franklins and the 3rd (Sport Sedan Parts car)  will loose its front doors and become a T bucket style Rat Rod on a 41 Ford frame.
My biggest question is for the FM guys..... How radical can we go and still get a wave back from the cops? Got any good story's what not to do?

welcome to the board.
I am not into the rat rod thing, but I would say if you are going to build a rat rod, build it legal.  If you are from ND get a copy of the 39 century code when building so you comply with what is permitted for motor vehicles.  thats my 2 cents.

I know if they have a problem with you they can get nasty about fenders, well, any changes other than stock appearing cars.

if your car is 1948 or older fenders are not required.

heres the fender bit

39-21-52. Exemption for certain street rod motor vehicles. The provisions of this
chapter or chapter 52-04-01 of the North Dakota Administrative Code relating to bumpers, tires,
and fenders do not apply to street rod motor vehicles. However, a street rod must have all
equipment, in operating condition, which was specifically required by law as a condition for its
sale when it was first manufactured. A street rod is a modernized motor vehicle which was
manufactured before 1949 by a recognized manufacturer and which retains the general
appearance and original body configuration as manufactured or a motor vehicle designed and
manufactured to resemble such a motor vehicle. A street rod may have improved modifications
to the body, chassis, engine, brakes, power train, steering, and suspension systems either by
modifying the original equipment or replacing original parts with fabricated parts or those taken
from other existing vehicles. The director may adopt rules to implement this section.
