Title: Bismarck guys = asleep at the wheel!
Post by: Eyeball on September 15, 2008 4:05 am
I found these online in Bismark on Friday and picked them up this weekend.....yep milk truck wheels. Found a truck for sale with them on and talked the guy into selling me the wheels. 18"x4" and they are not the split rim!

I also picked up this cool chrome axle off a dragster from another guy........ Now to redrill some hubs......and find me a P-38 tank.

Good for you!!!  I didn't want to build some wheels that might go 200 mph and have something happen.

Didn't even stop by and say hi.

I thought milk truck wheels were 5 on 5.5" pattern only?

Yes they were available for Ford and Chevy. Chevy also had them in 17" but it was a split rim, however the centers were the same and will fit right into an 18" hoop.

Is a wheel fetish contagious, or just a mental condition?  I was just wondering.

You can't prove anything.

Isn't finding the holy grail of steel wheels different? He even traded for them, meaning he gave some up. The way I understand it, true wheel whores don't sell wheels ever.

Of all the parts of a car we decide to build a car around, don't wheels make the most sense?  :dontknow:

RacerJ, that makes sense to me.

Cant wait to see what you have planned for these wheels Eyeball. Wowcars showed me a pic of the wheels on his phone the day you got them, and I instantly thought streamliner

Streamliner would be the ultimate. However, i've also seen some on the back of competition coupes. Thats my hope for his plan. Would also look righteous and sooooo available right NOW! Those wheels say "I'm here to go fast, period." No need to divert energy from going fast with things like show car fit and finish, flawless bodywork, etc. Just original condition and Pure Business. My 2 cents say wicked chopped coupe with steelies in front, milkers out back, full belly pan, as many louvers as one can fit on trailing surfaces, removable aluminum insert for the grille, B-17 oxygen tank, real bomber seats, sheetmetal interior, etc. and build a mid fifties stock grilled comptetion coupe. I get dizzy thinking about it.

It's so much fun dreaming with other peoples money! :)

. . .or you could just buy this and put your wheels on it.
