Title: Experienced auto parts
Post by: overspray on July 29, 2008 5:38 pm
It's amazing what you can find--in the neighbor's shed---in my shed---in my garage--on ebay----in the junkyard--in North Dakota.

First mock-up:  26T touring (front bucket)-

double "Z'd" tube frame

40 Ford wishbone & axle

8" Ford rear

35 Ford wires with 600x16 WW 'stones

32 commercial shell

(unknown) windshield posts and frame (they actually will fit the cowl very well with only some tweaking)

Rambler station wagon roof panel (the idea is to make a small pickup box and use the roof panel for the cover, something like I saw in one of Gary Gilchrist's "Little Book" collection from around 1958, which would provide a space for the fuel tank, the battery and maybe some tools and a clean change of underwear.)

35-6 Chevy "bomber style" seat backs

F1 steering

there's a nice set of Guide 682 headlights on the shelf

I'm sure if I dig a little deeper there is more fine quality experienced auto parts lurking in the corners.  In fact I'm pretty sure there's a fair to good 8BA that my recently acquired heavy duty open drive 3 speed will fit on---or---Zora's child (in late 50's or early 60's style, of course) could take up residence between the frame rails, if so desired.

I plan on getting it tacked together as a roller and selling it to further enhance the Super Secret "Bonneville Interceptor" project.  I should get a title for it shortly.  Of course when the time comes, guns, bombs (inert), knives, parts and other items of interest will be considered as trading material--up down or sideways.

Or as the old man at the swapmeet told Keith and I:

If you don't like the price--bring your wife and we'll "dicker".

This is just a heads up first for the "Swedes".

Where did you hide the Bonnevile Interceptor or is that a super secret. Shop looks good ( cleaned up ) or is that just the angel of the pics. :P

Nope.  The frame was built in Montana.  It's long to fit a tub (touring body) or RPU like I have it mocked up.  To do a modified it could be shortened.

I like the RPU set-up.  I found an old hotrod show car from out west, that had this stance, in an old "Little Book". It  tripped my trigger so I started piling on the parts to see what it looked like.

LOTD??  is that like LSMFT??  OR are you slamming me and interested in a frontend meeting with "Tommy"?

NOT CLEAN--My photography is planned very well.

The SUPER SECRET "Bonneville Interceptor" is stored for the time being about 3 floors below the gold reserves in Fort Knox, Kentucky.  It is only accessible by those individuals with SUPER SECRET Security Clearance.  Or Bring beer for a tour.

Troy Moos
New Salem, ND
701 843 8450 home
701 391 8427 cell

He has several sheds full of parts.  Doors, steering columns, hoods fenders, you name it.  Next time I go out I'll get some shots of inside the sheds.

I figured Eyeball would have to have one of those old sign posts.

Just thought I'd add a quick remark. Troy is a very honest, easy to deal with dude. I bought a 39 parts car from him once and he even delivered it fer me. He's got lots of "stuff", a full prior implement shop and other buildings full of stuff. The only complaint I have is everytime I go to a auction in the area hes usually there...haha

I always thought it would be cool to build a '32 Chevy 5W, but I think I have enough on my plate.

YEAH! and it's worse when you get OLD!  And 32 Chevys are full of rotten wood.

Troy is in a selling mood, and like Tracy said, he's easy to deal with and nice to talk to.  There's a lot of guys in the old car racket that aren't very pleasant, so dealing with Troy is a very good experience.

He kind of reminds me of the old "Weekly Auto Wrecking" commercials back in the 60's in Grand Forks.

They would have a picture of old Myron Weekly with an axle in his mouth and the announcer would say:  "Myron says, We can't eat these parts---we have to sell them".
