Title: Keep on diggin!!
Post by: leroy701 on May 28, 2008 2:16 pm
I went to buy a couple of car bodies from a local gentleman. I asked him if it had a motor in it, he said" I believe it does" I opened the hood, and closed it 5 seconds later.......life is good.
The scrappers haven't taken them all yet, keep kickin over rocks Fellas!

ahhh, it came in a plain brown wrapper to boot! nice one.

All the mopars with hemis around the Fergus Falls area have been picked over by this one dude, can't remember his name at the moment (cough). I even picked some treasures off the engineless bodies and sold trinkets on ebay after he threw the hulks into sigelmans. Dude even found a hemi in an airport baggage cart tug. Wierd.

Great find man!!

241 cu in low block.  The "baby" hemi.  Not much for displacement but still a nice torque motor.  Get a GM tranny adapter, stick a powerglide behind it and have a "economy" hotrod motor.

The "input" will be required from your checkbook.  It's not a SBC, but way cooler.  Engine code should be on the front of the block in front of the intake.  I think The ball of the Eye posted the codes on here someplace.  Or---

Well that’s your opinion.   If everybody keeps shit canning there SBC I’ll be the minority and then I’ll be `` the in thing”.

Why does the SBC get such a bad rap?  One of the best motors every built to get the most HP out of a Cubic In. And they are lighter than a lot lesser HP motors. I think it was Tuck that said , you don't build a flathead to beat a ?? you built it for the ?? ( can't remember the quote, it went something like that ) and that's fine, and he's right. I got nothin' againts other motors, in fact I love to look at the other ones. It's just I don't understand why they have to kick the shit out of the Chevy.

Boy is this thread taking a turn.

Well no doubt, I'd love to run a flat cad, but it's damn spendy to build, or even find these days.  I'll stick with my SBC's for now.

You know after having a 390 caddy engine, and a 272 y-block..then going to the 350 chev in the 48....love the small block when it comes to finding parts on the road.

Tom....you are correct, but.....

I hate to even get into this discussion.....but I think the whole thing has to do with belly buttons......

You know where I stand....Ford in a Ford, unless it is something unique like a hemi, nailhead, caddy, or 348/409 built in the tradition of that era. I think where part of it lies is that a fairly new SBC can be made to look like an old SBC and that just erks the hell out of us Ford guys.

Congrats on finding that hemi.....and yes - it is a spendy rebuild....clean it up, paint it nice and put it on a stand in the corner for a conversation piece.

later.....

AH yes, a good old smallblock debate is o.k.. Thats why I still love my old 283's, 265's and 327's. You can have a traditional engine and still get pretty cheap parts for em. Although I've noticed I can build a 350 a lot cheaper than a 283. Guys gotta start building the old engines again so the parts come down...hahaha

its the 700 club thing. its to easy to take a 350/350 and drop it in any thing.  i will agree with jake it is too easy to make a sbc look like somthing it isnt like a older sbc or olds or stude or even ardun. i have nothing against the motor itself but i wouldnt run one unless it came in it now a six or a W hell yaeh but snc nope.  oh and if ya do please of for 3 pedals

Thank you Jake and Ross for helping me  prove my point. It's ok to put anything else in a Ford but a sbc. You DO see the irony in your coments!!

I Have a Ford in a Ford, a Chevy in a Chevy, and a Chevy in a Ford. ( the Chevy in a Ford has 3 pedals. ) and as long as they work it's great. And when they don't, they are shit, it dosen't matter what it is!!

I saw this thing at the Goodguys pulling the Garbage cart around. This is very similar to what that dude in Fergus found a Hemi in, so keep your eyes peeled. I don't know where the hell old Baggage cart pullers go, but . . . .just fyi.

I've seen them with flat sixes too, so I guess you just never know.
