Title: 55 olds taillights
Post by: Briggs&Stratton on April 30, 2008 3:42 am
Hey, anyone know where I can find a set of 55 oldsmobile taillight lenses?  Im guessing they must be reproduced by now?

I went to weeklys today and he said he had them and they would be $200 a pair.    :(

They do go high. I've been looking for a set for my '56 Olds. If they are on Ebay they usually are out of this world. I've never seen anybody carry reproductions.
Title: stocking parts
Post by: eugenevik on May 01, 2008 12:42 pm
after paying $$ for parts it was easier to stock a lot of cars and have your own supply during  stock car racing, after quiting and seeing the light  i sold my stash of 20  plus cars and am now partless
the tendency for everyone wanting to clean up is  bad
my bud just got notice to remove about 7 parts cars w no tags and it is muddy to hide anything in country, and when will they want it all removed?? what happened to personal freedom??  it dont exhist anymore, we want you to throw your parts cars away and you get to pay more!!!

thanks for that link.

I want these tail lights to mount in 52 ford tail light bezels.  After I looked at that site, I happened to look at the 56 olds ones too and maybe thats actually what I need?  They seem to have a mounting flange at the base.

Does anyone know if its 55 or if its 56 olds tail lights that are commonly put on 52-4 fords?

One of my all time favorite looks - 52-54 Ford with Oly tail lites. Ranks right up there with 55-56 Fords with Merc wagon tail lites.

This is where I got the ones for the '56.  They didn't cost $200 and they look way nicer than salvage yard ones.  I was very happy with mine.  For the Ford you will probably be better off with the '55 Olds tail lights as they have a flat mounting surface.  '55's are what everyone uses.  I know they used to carry the chrome spears for the '55 Olds 98 tail lights but unfortunately, I have never seen anyone use them in a custom.
