Title: What have you found in old cars?
Post by: Briggs&Stratton on April 21, 2008 7:52 am
Howdy, the hamb has a post like this going on and I was wondering if any local people have found anything interesting when searching through or cleaning out an old car?

I'll start.  I bought a 52 ford on saturday and started cleaning it out when I got it to the shop.  When I pulled the rear seat I found the missing visor and missing vent window lock, along with this bayonet.  I just did a search and found that it's a springfield krag US military model sometime from the late 1800's-1902.  Maybe I have to name the car "The Bayonet"?  :D

One pic of how I found it and another after I wire wheeled it.

That's a sweet bayonet.  I agree with the Ross.  Washington blue sounds kickass.

On tuesday I was pressure washing out the trunk of this car because there was a serious amount of dirt in that low crevass where the quarter panel and trunk floor meet on the sides of the trunk.  The metal was thin inside there and the pressure from the water blew the thin rusty spot open.  When I finished, I walked by the side of the car and saw this laying in a pile of mud under where the rust spot blew through.

Kick Ass.....!

its really rusty and I havent messed with it yet.  I did wire wheel it a little bit but I realized since the clip is still in it, there could be bullets in it that could go off (although highly unlikely).

Im not really into handguns and I wasnt even sure it was real but a couple people have looked at it now and they say its real.  On one part it says "Remington UMC".

Wow.........I wonder how many "missing persons" the former owner of the car has met?

You need to call the car "Hoffa"
