OK guys, here it is finally. I was dared to post pictures of the project by a pinstriper who shall remain nameless. I tried to document this build a little better than I have in the past, but then I lost most of the pics when my computer crashed anyway. This is what I started with, a '36 5-window that I bought from Serious, it was "customized" by a farm boy in the late 50's with the frame and drivetrain of a '50 ford, and futher customized by the boys at the Hazen town dump.

Heres the only pic to survive the crash, of the back end with all of the non-36 parts removed. In the pic you can see the deck lid fits pretty well, but its not 35/36 ford, its not even a ford of any year, no clue what it was for.

Here the car as it sits now.

You may notice the quarter windows are missing. I moved the back of the roof up 5", moved the door jambs back 6", chopped the top 3", and filled the roof, The doors are 2 door sedan doors, converted to 3 window doors using a really rusty 3 window door as a pattern. I cut up a very rough '35 2dr slant back to get the frame, dash, running boards and some floor pieces. The doors came from colorado, the cowl from sabin, the header from a diffrent guy in colorado, decklid from boston, tail section from indiana, rear fenders from thief river falls, and the front clip from fergus falls. Heres a couple other pics.

I thought I'd also include some pics include some pics of some(not all) the other irons I have in the fire that keep me from finishing anything. Frst is a '56 F100 big window, that started when I got a '55 shortbox frame from northcoastgreaser about 2 years ago. I was going to throw it together with parts left over from my other '56, but I think I ended up using 2 fenders and the running boards, and buying all diffrent stuff for this one. I'm hoping to have this on at BTTF's this year.

This is a '34 chevy 3 window. I started with these body halves I got from steve jorgenson for $100.

This is what it looked like when I put it together with a '34 Master 4dr. I got out of hazer's west yard.

I decided that it was way too much work for me, and that I had too many other cars to mess with so I sold it. I'll try to get updates when I can, but I have a few off topic cars to finish and sell so I can build a bigger garage, so who knows when that will be. Matt

I'm in love with that '36. The '56 is pretty nice too. But I would have the '36's kids.
-
Awesome job Matt. Ever heard people say, "I've started with worse?" I didnt' think so. . . :D That '36 is gonna rock!
I've never seen that 56 in the daylight. Exciting!!
-
I like what youve done with that 36 alot. Youve put serious work into that thing. The best part is how a random oddball decklid ended up working!
And as far as the 50 frame that was under it, that frame swap must have been the "hot" thing to do in the 50's by farm boys. I know where there is a 41 coupe that has a 54 frame under it very crudely.

I didn't end up using the decklid that was on there. I sold it along with the 5 window doors and a '33 ford tudor body to the guy that bought the '34 chevy(he didn't know what the lid fit either, nor did anyone on the hamb) The really funny part, is that I bought a 36 deck lid along with the 2dr doors and the 3 window door, and the 36 decklid fit worse than the mystery lid. I thought something was really f'd up, until I bought ANOTHER 36 lid and it dropped on there like it was made for the car.

That's a great start on what I feel is one of Henry's best cars - '36 three window. Reminds me of the one from Norway documented on the HAMB and R&C. Nice work.

And I just thought of this......
What happened to the '39?

And I just thought of this......
What happened to the '39?
I sold it, and sent it to Kentucky. My wife was not real happy about it, so I told her I'd get another one. Looks like I might be dragging home another rusty mangled mess of a 39 coupe to un-mangle back into a car this summer. This one will end up as a '40 deluxe though(she likes that front end better). :D
-
So is the '36 for sale? Or the '56?
-
I know I'm looking forward to seeing the '36 "finished", and I can't wait to cruise over there in the '40 this summer and "help" on your '40 project...! Thanks for posting!

So is the '36 for sale? Or the '56?
No plans to sell the '36(I think my wife would stab me if I sold another car that I "had to have" once it started to look like a car) The black '56 will probably be sold to fund the garage or the other '56 big window.
Looking over this post, I've come to the conclusion that I have Car A.D.D.
-
I can't believe that the 36 is the same car!!! Nice job of saving it! When Serious texted me the pic of that thing, I thought it was MAYBE a parts car. My hats off to you!
-
Ditto- that took balls to untertake that project- What about that orange thing sitting in your garage? That could probably fund a heated floor!!!
-
orange thing?? please tell me I don't have a car I don't know about in my own garage.
