Title: GMC v6's and v12's
Post by: CJHacker on October 31, 2007 9:51 pm
Not sure how many people have ever heard of these, but thought it was interesting and worth passing on.

One of my buddies here at work just picked up a '63 GMC that has the 305 v6 with the factory plaid valve covers (http://www.6066gmcguy.org/GMCplaid.htm) and he did all kinds of research on it.

These engines are rated in "Gallons per Mile".  I think Gene Hoyt has the double V6 he was going to use in a car hauler.

Yes he did. If I remember right he had two of them. Gave up on the idea and sold both of them.

Everyone should go to that site anyways.  He's a cool shit, he's on a welding forum I used to frequent.  He's got the same mentality as all you guys, but instead of traditional hot rods, it's old cat's.

And if any of you watched Ice Road Truckers, he uses the vintage cats to build ice roads, and he's got some stories about him hauling supplies for diamond mines.

Found a v12 yarding a couple years ago in a container in an old part of the yard.  Someday, space and money will not be an issue - or so i keep telling myself.
