Title: Anyone ever use a big truck rear axle?
Post by: Ricola on October 31, 2007 4:33 pm
Anyone ever use a big truck rear axle? Like a 1 ton? You know, the ones with the axle shafts that unbolt from the drum end? When I got my 34 Ford 5w back in the day there was a truck axle under it. I never really took a good photo of it before I pulled it out. It was weird to me at the time but thinking back on it now it was a very traditional way to get steep gears. Kind of a  cool idea to me now.

It's what the stock car boys use for years. Deep gears and strong!!

 A 5 window hammered, just the way I like'em. :D

Tom, I went back and edited my post to include a photo of the car when I got it like 25 years ago. This is what it looked like when I purchased it with the exception of the Center Lines. Woth the body damage it may have been a stock car. This would bee a cool look today I think.

Nope, Sold it about 20 years ago. Tax man wanted money. I paid him.  Here's the last pic I took.

I have a new project now. This heap.
