So Ryan showed up at my house at 9:00 am Saturday morning after only a few hours of sleep from moving the shop the night before. Topped off fluids and headed south. Quick stop in Fergus to pick up a few things at Hell-Mart:

After a great breakfast (provided my ma) and a couple of things tended to on the cars, we headed down the interstate:

Got to the cities and checked into the BosneINN(tm) at 3:00. Took showers to cool off from the drive. No, no pictures of that. Slingsby called and said that he had an art show and asked if we'd be up to join the Bastards there. Hell yeah! Get everything else unpacked. Tried unsuceesfully to install Ryans Wolf Whistle on the Olds and reinstalled the drag plate on the Stude after loosing a bolt on the way down. Call Stephan to get directions and he advises not to bother, they are on their way back. Ok. Sounds like a good time to hit LEE'S LIQUOR LOUNGE! Get in the car and head downtown. Finally find Lee's and get spots in their 8 car parking lot. Go in for a few and a pizza. Ryan gets hit on by the old drunk chick with false teeth before she gets kicked out. (Again, no pics of her.) Leaving Lees, we decided that we had too many to drive around downtown Minneapolis, so decide to walk it off. Walk around one block and basically decided that getting pulled over was better than getting murdered for being the ONLY white guys around. Leave and go to Memory Lanes for concerts that night.

1:00 am: Leave Memory Lanes to go back to the BosneINN (tm) and get lost uptown Minneapolis. Get turned around and find 'home'.
Sunday morning wake up and head back over to Memory Lanes by 10. They say don't show up early, well there was hardly any room left by 10:15!

After the show, we were invited to the afterparty at Jake and Scotty's place. Leaving Memory Lanes, about six kustoms in line barely leaving 1st gear for about 4 miles to the house. Magical. When Ryan and I got there, there was only a six pack of PBR in the fridge, and since it was Sunday, no offsale in MN! We thought it would be a dry night. We were wrong! Since the one band from Chicago was late, they decided to play in the basement of the house. More and more people started showing up with beer and alcohol. Everyone drank their fair share and then some. Had a noise complaint, so we stayed quiet for about a half-hour and forgot about the complaint. Decided to eat Scottys food that she had set out, said our farewells about 2:30 and crashed at the hotel and took comfort in the thought of being able to sleep in. Again, we were mistaken.

8:30am Monday. Motel phone rings. I thought WTF? Are they telling me I have to get out or did something happen to the cars in the secluded parking lot? Answer half asleep:
"Yeah?"
"Are you sleepin."
"No, No, I'm up"
"This is Paso, DJ and I were wondering if you'd be up for breakfast with us?"
"OK, sure. Whats the directions?"
So, after packing up and checking out, we made the 7 minute trip to the Cassa de Paso. He invites us in to watch Hard Shine on his GIANT flat screen. Of course being around PasoJohn, we don't hear a word of the show! HAHA. We have breakfast and head out to the garage to see his projects. Seeing his '56 Dodge project and havin him tell us that he is a no-talent-hack, we have to check out the '59 Elky close up and its 123 coats of laquer. Yes, 123 coats. The wagon is not at home, that is at DJs apartment. However, his gorgeous Plymouth rapgtop is in the next stall along with his superior Superior wheel collection on the wall. (My camera was dead at this point so hopefully Ryan will post his pics.) Anyways, since there is NO such thing as a quick visit with PasoJohn, breakfast turns to lunch 4 hours later. After a quick lunch provided by DJ, we visited the old man next door and his Hot Rod project. A 1929 A Sedan with the roof nicely wacked off, and a '40 dash. He's welding up the drilled wishbone mounts, while the drilled '37 axe is on the sawhorses. Vintage race car pics adorn the wall. Pictures of his Cadillac powered Stude from '57 stuffed into a corner of the cabinet. The mill for the 'A': An Offy-headed flathead with triple 94s. Perfect. An actual ad for the 1958 Edsel is playing on the Radio. I never knew the secret to a time machine was merely an eight foot overhead door. The welding helmet raises up to reveal an 80 year old man building a damn nice traditional hot rod. We talk with him for a while before we let him back to his magic. We say our farewells to John and DJ, and leave while decorating the blacktop in front of his house, much to his delight. We turn the corner for the 5 hour drive home. And say farewell to another event for the season.

WOW busy weekend. BTW did you hear how it went keeping the shock rods out?

Hey thanks for coming out guys! We definitely had a blast and appreciate it when guys put allot of gas in their tank to visit! Next year we're going to return the favor and get up to your show!

We only turned away one what I would call a shock rod. Somehow I don't think he was really surprised. Word was spread around town before the show that we were going to be more strict on what got in. Funny thing was that we had to reject the very first car that tried to get in! That guy was pissed but honestly it was an abortion. We should have got a picture of it for exactly what we don't want... Ryan did you happen to get a picture of it right outside the gate?

I was there. I wanted to stay and drink some beers, but I was there alone and drove from Saint Cloud. I did end up boozin with some friends that live in Minneapolis though.
Next year I plan to take my Hudson, and it'd be cool to maybe meet up with some of you guys that made the long haul. I drove my dodge, and if you saw a baby blue 66 Coronet lay down a patch as it left, well that was me.
Also I lived in Minneapolis for 2 years, and love going down there for any reason, like car shows. Alot of cool bars, music and shit. I can't remember if I ever intoduced myself, so let me know if I need to.

Well, I guess by the number of posts I have I never did an intro. I was born in 1976. I like old cars, Mopars are my favorite. Have a few. Currently working on a 49 Hudson 2 door sedan. Nice rust free body I'm sticking a 318 Poly in (the car was gutted when I got it). Also dig motocycles. Have an old Shovelhead I did alot of work on, stripped down bobber style. Also an artist, have a bachelors degree in graphic design. Currenly live in St. Cloud MN. Work at a shop that we restore vettes, fix and tune old cars, and do performance engine building. My other never ending project is a 66 Coronet with a built 440, the one I drove to the Messaround. Here da pics.

I bet I know what car it was. More shit hanging on that has nothing to do with cars. There are about 3 cars that I have seen several times, that are gay as hell. Had to be one of em.

I'm speechless. Thats something I'd say in a coversation over beer, etc. that would go something like this:
Pete: "Dude, what if we built a stretched out totally chopped to the bone tudor with a Caterpillar theme, smoke stack, radiator and all?"
