Sounds cool...more nostalgic hot rod stuff in the media- I just hope they don't make him out to be the "Jesse James of Rat Rods"......gross.

      There was an unkind review of it in the Forum this morning....probably a guy who watches sitcoms or dancing with the stars or something....hopefully hot rodders will like it.

Nah....if I ever did that again, I would be the old guy sitting in the corner giving advise and supervising....that schedule was tough.  Did it once...had fun....don't need to again.

I caught the beginning of it then people kept calling me so I didn't get to see hardly any of it.  All I seen was he had a guy that's a good fabricator but a jailbird, a guy that builds hot rods already, a gal thats a artist, and a gal that's a racer.  And what I saw was Jimmy Shine was working under the car and all of them were standing around.  And he was narrating about if he could get this car done in time.

So I don't know if he expects them all to know what needs to be done or if he told them and I missed it.  That's when I got called away from it.  I'm shutting my phone off next time.

It'll probably be on later tonight.

:)

I actually thought it was pretty good.  Yeah, there were some lame parts, but most of it was enjoyable to watch.

I know exactly how Shine feels. Out of a class of 22 each year there are about 5-6 that know what it's about and want to learn, about 5-6 that are completely lost and have no idea why they are there and a bunch in the middle that may or may not make it.

But just seeing the cars, and people was great.  Some neat tools sitting around and being used.  Any body ever see one of those rotisorie (SP)
style hole punches before.  I'd love to have one of those.

I'll keep watching.

I watched the later one, seemed pretty good, not a bunch of assclowns, not a bunch of drama.  I must've dozed off towards the end, and thought I was having a nightmare, turns out American Hot Rod was on after it.

HAHAHAHA

I do hope there is a little more building next time. I didn't mind the  history lessons on So Cal and Jimmy but I hope they were just in the pilot episode to edge-a-bakate those that didn't know.

PS: I would have use a hole saw.

Any show that has hot rods on it is worth watching.  I will keep watching it.

I thought it was pretty good... I don't watch a lot of TV, but at least this was something cool and I think would take the time to watch again.  Good to see Dave on there...

I watched it and enjoyed it. I want one of the rotary hole punch gizmos too. I did learn one thing that I found interesting. The So-Cal shop rate is $85/hr!

Post by: sko_ford on July 14, 2007 4:36 am
i know local body shops around that rate.

but whats it cost to get on the waiting list

The new episode was good- I still haven't seen the first one...then there was a monster garage where jesse and the gang built a "rat rod" '29 tudor with some 12,000 buck "hardcore" smallblock chevy and th400 trans...at the beginning of teh show they said they were going to build it for under 5,000 but it ended up being 36,000 + with "freebies" and the actual car cost.  They also said that there were only 30 Model A sedans in that condition that they started with, and that the first hot rod gathering was in 1970....looks like somebody needs to do some research...I wish I got "freebies" too.
Title: FALSCHLEHNER
Post by: JakesBackyard on August 02, 2007 1:37 am
   No wonder Jimmy changed his name to Shine!

Here's an interesting article on Hard Shine.  You have to remember it's all for TV and a buck.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=121623#22

I watched the last two episodes the other night as I had missed them.  It's still fun to see the cars and interesting people,  but there's plenty of corn thrown in.  I'll keep watching.

I've got all the episodes on my DVR and plan to eventually tape them all on one tape.  If no one comes up with one, give me a yell and I'll tape it for you.

Last night was pretty good.

Well I finally got time to watch the episode my daughter taped for me when we were in  Bville. It's also the same taped I used to tape the last episode. Well guess what, I didn't forget to turn on the satellite dish like I though. I watched it till the point Jimmy said to Littleman they would be transporting his car and then it went blank. No body who was in the house knows hows that happened.

So I guess I saw the most of the important part of the show. Thanks for the offers, guys.

I hope so... I like watching this show. I am watching it for the second time tonight right now.
The show seemed too short to me.

From the beginning I though Littleman should have it. BUT after working with all the other guys for 5 months ( or what ever it was ) it would have to suck to let them go. If you looked close at the two guys who got the ax, you could see the look of disappointment on there faces. I hope the gang member stays straight and doesn't fall of the wagon after getting let go.

Littleman said there were 10 shows and I think this was the 7th so a few to go..

Did ya hear, Littleman did not take the job. Decided to stay in Ohio.

Richie the gang guy got a job there, guess he's been working for So-Cal for a few months.

Littleman doesn't need SoCal, SoCal needs Littleman. The gang guy will be a nice addition. I have a feeling Littleman will be busier than he wants to be.
