Looking for one in good condition.
-
You do realize they have that big ugly pitman arm that clamps on the shaft. I have one I was going to use but decided against it because of that big pitman arm. I have seen them on several old rods in the "little books". I'm not sure where I put the pitman arm, but I can probably find the steering box and column and maybe the arm will turn up if I dig enough.

Keep in mind that '56 is shorter than 53-55. That is why it is the column of choice. Also look for one the the adjuster is not screwed all the way in, these boxes are spendy to rebuild. Finally, make sure it doesn't have "Gemmer II" cast into it, these are out of big trucks and are larger and have a longer pitman. I wish you'd have said something earlier, I've sold 5 of these in the last 6 months.

I have one out of a '54. Steering wheel, column, box, and pitman arm. You'll have to determine what "good" condition means on a 50 year old steering box. I'll trade you a stromberg top for it all.
