Title: Hi from JakesBackyard
Post by: JakesBackyard on November 15, 2006 5:34 am
I said I'd introduce myself about a month ago, so I better do it before I get chewed out any more.

I've been livin and breathin cars for a lot of years. My dad drove me to 1st and 2nd grade school in a '31 Model A Tudor Sedan (which I rodded in the 80's), my reading starting at age 8 was my older brothers little pages car mags, I sewed up and installed my first headliner at 15, and did all the body work on the same car('57 Ford 2 dr hdtp), chopped a model A coupe roof at 16 (not mine).......and haven't changed much since. Many are amazed I've had the same wife for almost 36 years! But I'm still younger than Tom!

I have been teaching Upholstery and Auto Body at NDSCS for almost 29 years and hopefully that helps keep me young.  For those with kids....think about spending 6 hours a day with twenty 18-20 year olds each day! We lost the Upholstery program in '91....like many schools that taught it....a dying art form.

I lean traditional 50's/early 60's with my own rides, but enjoy and appreciate almost any wheeled form of travel.  I love pedal cars.

I spend a lot of time in a garage in my backyard....hence the name....where I've been known to do an interior or two.  You may have been there on a garage tour or three. The fridge is usually stocked. I'll add a pic or more in an additional post.

Jake

The yellow roadster was built in '90. Whitewalls were not too popular at the time, but I loved em.

The Galaxie was my ride the past few years...I sold it at BTT50's this year.

The '29 Sport coupe started life 3 years ago, but got waylayed with my fire last year.  Hopefully I'll get back at it shortly.

The PT is a builder I just finished for a daily driver.

Later,

Jake

Last I heard it was in Salt Lake City, UT.  But that was about 4 years ago. There are a lot of great memories of that one with my family.

No, those pics of the A were taken last night before I came in from the garage.  I just got that Tilt A Whirl sign this summer. I lost my big FORD neon sign in the fire....unfortunately. I'm sure that makes you sad!

Welcome to the site.  It sounds like you must have had some fire trouble too.  I dig the Sport Coupe.
