Title: Please Identify this hood ornament

A buddy at work has had this thing floating around with him for about 15 years, and he's never tried to identify the thing.  Any ideas on what it is?

Actually I dont think that is a hood ornament. It kinda looks like a fender crown molding from a 56 chebby. Have ta look in one of my parts catalog when I get home, cant really remember if their that big. 56 fancy cars ya could get an asssory fender bird for the tops of each fender. Pretty gaudy really. I could be totally full of ----, but that what they look like ta me... :lol:

Can anyone confirm this yet?  I looked up some pictures of a 54 Merc on Carnut and didn't see it on any of them there.  Didn't see any pics of the 56 fender crown moldings though to see if it was that.

I've had two different trucks have some sort of "jet" hood ornament on them similiar to this, a 56 F-250, and a 54 Chevy 6100 Grain Truck.  I know I took the 54's off, I'll have to see if I can find where I put it, Ill check out the f-250 and see if its still got it on there or if someone robbed it.

the fin on top is too big to be from a 56. and it has the wrong shape for the 56. other than that I'm not sure.

I did some hunting on the net, and oddly enough the only car I could find that matched your picture CJ was... wait for it.... THE HOLDEN!! Now I don't know if this is true, but it would match the time frame.  
I tried to find a better picture but I couldn't.  It looks the same to me, but i'm probably wrong.  Take a look, what do you think.

But i'm probably wrong.  I thought it looked like the picture.  what does everyone else think, is it a Holden hood ornament?
