Title: Wheels again
Post by: Tom on September 05, 2006 4:00 pm
Looking for 2 ea. 16" X 5 or 6" wide w/ a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. I know the ford crown vic has them but they are 7" wide and they will not accept a small cap. Been told '49 or '50 ford had them as an option. Even if you don't have the wheel but know of some thing else that will work let me know.

Thanks.

Tuck is running a set of 16 on his shoebox. From what I understand they are pretty hard to get ahold of.

I assume you are looking for a solid steelie type wheel right? I do have a full set of artilliary style wheels off a Internanational pickup but dont really wanna part with em. I would check Corn Binders, they had the small bolt pattern and should have had 16's into the 50's. Mine are from a 35 International.

Yeah, for the back of the '28. Need to be able to mount those '49-'50 style caps I got.

Serious was giving me shit this weekend about changing tires all the time. :)

Naw, don't need them till next spring. Got a guy on the HAMB who wants to sell me two, but.... if I can get them local, that would be even better.

If you don't make it down will have to stop by on the way home Sunday to pickup Char's sweatshirt.

I think I got this figured out, Most 37-48 Plymouth's had 16X4s, the later ones have outside bumps which will hold the caps I want to use. Any mopar guys out their that can help me out??

Here ya go. The center hole is to small for my axle flange, will have to open it up when I widen the rims.

Also checked the price on the ss hairpins w/clevises  $355.00

Found this little bit of info on the HAMB.

"If you want to run steelies, find an international pick up..late fifties thru to 70 something, the stock 16" wheels are dead ringers for early ford steelies and 4 1/2" bolt pattern, and a ford cap pops right on. Ive got these on my RPU and just found another pair for free.."
