Pinstriper40 chops a '35 Ford 3 window!
« on: October 22, 2011 4:43 PM »
Here it is!  I got down to Bill Bergeron's place thursday around noon- taped it up that afternoon and fixed a couple dents, then got to work yesterday cutting and re-welding the roof.  I should have the roof back together by the end of the day today.  Tomorrow I'll tackle the doors and it sounds like I'll be back to lead the roof and work on fenders...

I found a Bomber seat at Bill's and he traded it to me for the front roof section I brought him- as well as a Dixco 8,000 RPM tach, and some other goodies... More on that later.

Looks good Joel, this guy has some nice stuff, I don't think I would have had the balls to cut it up. ;)

Everything but the door tops!  Bill and I decided to get the doors aligned better before putting the tops on, so he's going to work on that.  They didn't fit the best before we chopped it but I thought now would be the time to make sure it's right.

Here are some pics of what it looks like now.. and the bomber seat I snagged while I was there- I traded it, a dixon 8,000rpm tach, and a Custom Cars Annual from 1958 for some roundback spindles I got from Duklet and the '36 roof section and windshield frame.

It's done.  I did the door tops a couple weeks ago but I forgot my camera... and I don't have a F.F. phone like the rest of you guys (you know, the kind with cameras built in?)  so I have to wait for the pictures to be emailed to me that Bill and his nephew Zac took.  I think they printed out the digital pictures and mailed them to me so I can scan them and re-digitize them for your viewing pleasure.

So... um... no pics yet.

Thanks Eyeball!  I'll post some pictures of the inside welding tonight- there are two pieces I have to make and put in on the inside edge of the door tops- but other than that it's just bodywork from here on out.  I'll be going back in January to do more work.  I think my current job has made me a faster worker which I don't mind...
