Spring Break
« on: March 24, 2009 8:13 PM »
Being sick of this winter, my wife and I got in the car and headed south till it got warm last week.  Ended up as far as Tulsa,OK. (83 degrees) Just bummed around and stopped when there was something to look at.  Put a few miles on Route 66 - some neat sites, but also kind of depressing to see how the small towns have died along the way.

Any way we spent a couple hours at Darryl Starbirds Rod & Custom Museum outside of Bernice, OK.  I've never been real excited about his later work, but always loved the Big T and Predicta.  Spent quite a while talking to his wife and then went out to the shop and BS'd with Darryl and his grandson who were working on a PU for the grandson.  The "coffin" was sitting in the shop just back from Detroit.

Heck of a nice guy and still building cars in his 70's.

The museum had some nice cars from others including Bill Hines "Bat".

Had a great week, but real tired of battling water since returning. Hope everyone is staying ahead of the water.

Here's some pics:
